If Christchurch was in OZ - they'd so have a franchise.

they need a team.

It would mean us losing siggy and the likes of nelsen coming back but worth it for the game in nz.

More youth players given a shot

Im from Christchurch myself and i say we just keep it too one frnachise in the nix, I am Phoenix till i die and cant see myself switching and since ive been a nix fan since day one there is absolutely no way i believe there should be a second NZ team...

The Nix are building a good nationwide fanbase and i think its really cool that way, lets not get carreid away and get another franchise as that will detract fans from the nix

Agree - and what would I do with all that Phoenix gear I have if a Canterbury Franchsie was in the Aleague.

Pretty much. Even tho it was used by a failed bid for the 2nd Melbourne franchise, Southern Cross FC would fit nicely for a name. Suits the city and would hopefully draw in other South Island support.

Would love to see a NZ derby, but sadly cant see it happening within the next 10 yrs.

a second A-League franchise would work a treat in Christchurch....they have the fans for sure and a great stadium.
OK thats the hard part. Now the easy bit. Getting local businesses to sign up to a deal that will lose them a $million per year, getting Mr Asia Bin Hamman to agree to a second NZ club in Oz.
 
I reckon its not impossible.....just improbable. Would be great for the development of the game in NZ. The Chch vs Nix derby games would be awesome!!
