question I have is why we've only offered him a contract until the end of this season? and then why the hell would he accept it?
Well he’s Irish, so obviously hes done it for the craic.

probably wants to first see how many actual good days are in Wellington in half a season
He might only be on a 6 month because Rudan and the club still want a marquee for next season? Leaves more flexibility on who we keep for next season I guess...
Smart squad management. Short term for a player willing to prove himself in the league to earn an extension, if it doesn't work out then we're not paying him out/keeping a player we don't need. Given his public persona, cult hero status beckons.

Agreed. He’s as dry as a dry sherry, so if he bangs in a few he’ll be world famous in Wellington.
Also, who knows if we will exist next season.
No-one ever messed with The Sheriff
We signed The Sheriff, we didn't sign a big marquee
We signed The Sheriff, we didn't sign a big marquee
All around in Wellington
FFA try track us down
They say they want to bring us in guilty
For not signing a big marquee
For not signing a big marquee, but we say
We signed The Sheriff, and we swear it was in self-defence
We signed The Sheriff, to help our Capital offence
In the match day squad!
Have to say, he certainly looked class on his first showing. Read the game well and linked up excellently for the two goals.
Here's hoping for more of the same going forward.
Already firing shots
Prounced Killian.

No it's not! It's pronounced Cillian as there is no 'k' in Irish.

Or maybe it's that Chicken Provençal is one way of preparing poultry, while Duck à l'Orange is another, which is presumably how they do it on The OC...
18th fastest Ekstraklasa player last season. He's got it all!
Also surprised to find out that he has a Twitch channel that he often streams on
I don't usually listen to press conferences etc but I'm glad I watched Cillian's introductory presser the other day as the gaffer mentioned how he also plays well out wide and is fast for a tall bloke. When he came on the other day he slotted into a CF position but then he slowly drifted out to the left. I was half hoping I'd see some speed from him, and then the completed that lovely turn which allowed him to play Roy on goal...
Very cool, thanks for that RR. Came here with a suitcase of clothes suitable for the Irish winter!!
Hard not to be a big fan of the Sheriff. Seems like a smart bloke and a good footballer. Looking forward to what he's able to deliver for the rest of the season. I hope he likes Wellington as much as we liking having him here. I also love the podcast...

new chant for Saturday..."There's only one Robbie Slattery, One Robbie Slattery!". I'm sure the Sheriff would have a quiet chuckle about it!!

Acknowledging him would be.... too much flattery.
I found in interesting in that interview the interviewer keeps making statements about life in nz being good and Cillian kind of skirts the question. Maybe he doesn't like it here or maybe doesn't want to like it incase he has to leave soon.

slattery gets nothing imo

Or maybe he’s barely been in the country.

Funny didn't get that feeling at all.
He's only been in the country 5 minutes, probably doesn't know the names of half his team mates yet, and needs to go clothes shopping.
If he is a smart guy, then he knows it's way too early to yet form an impression of Aotearoa.
Hopefully he doesn't get yelled at by some eccentric mad woman on the good streets of Wellington. That happened to Ifill, in his first few days in the country, and he turned out okay.
Taylor will look after him, for better or worse!

I mean, he's barely been in NZ as he's only been with us for away games?
Interesting tidbit in his wiki profile -
Sheridan chose to focus on his football career, having turned down an offer to join Australian rules club Brisbane Lions.[3][6][7]

I hate how New Zealand journalists are obsessed with trying to prompt foreign sportspeople to say New Zealand is great. But yea, he's only arrived not long ago and has been off to Australia inbetween.

Absolute pet peeve. Every single interview with anyone remotely famous.
Was praising the view on his Instagram today so can't be that horrible here
Yep, the Beatles hadn't even gotten down the aircraft gangway before some village idiot asked them what they thought of New Zealand. Some things haven't changed in over 50 years.

Then he can truely be a wing man :)

It was an Irish interview.

He should hang out with the Wellington/Hutt Valley Gaelic football clubs in the off season
I was referring to Irish interview not any nz ones. Like he hasn't been here long but they asked the question twice and both times he didn't mention how long he'd been here etc he just changed the subject.
