Id love to see Graeme Hughes do the odd "Invitational" hahha he could make watching paint dry exciting

Leave Ian Smith right away from our beautiful game. Stick to cricket mate, ur even pushing it thinking ur a rugby commentator.

Iv got a question, how do u get into the business of commentating?? I mean how do u build that on ur C.V.??? 'yea i commentated, capital 13s' hahah

I struggle to watch League with Costo commentating. And im a big league fan, bring back the days with Hughes and Lowe!

He was at some Team Welly games last season so he's still in Wellington.

i heard that Terry had managed to get Tommy Smyth to come over for the first season....

im sure most of us will be at the games so why do we care who the commentators are???????

Mate what about Phoenix Supporters who live in other parts of the Country?? Ie Northland or CHCH who cant attend games?

Or doing a bit of post match analysis. go to the game and tape the game, watch it when ya get home.

This thread has been on before, and for ther record i went with

Radio sport will be doing commentaries (barring clashes) and Jason Pine will be the commentator.

why worry about who'll commentate we'll be at the game anyway  putting up with overbearing loud 80's kiwiana  like frankie steven's and john rowles

Being that I live in Hamilton I really hope sanity prevails and Gordon Irving is chosen!

Mate we've been thru this one, the world doesnt revolve around Wellington. There are supporters of the Phoenix who might live in other parts who want to watch the game and have quality commentating, not second rate crap.

For mine, i dont mind Irving, need a good couple of sidekicks to back him up. Ngata i agreee, and someone else

I'd prefer it if de Jong was not given the job.

I hate Irving.......but I'll be at the games so "bungrightknee" I dont care who they get.

Sky were too cheap to fly Irving to games in Auckland so I doubt we'd have Harry, Miles Davis, Fred or Andrew Dewhurst shipped down here.

The best news of all though is that would mean no Elrick !

Im not saying Irving is my 1st choice but who else do we have? I actually wouldnt mind havin an aussie commentate so long as he has a good sense of humour and who is NOT too biased towards the aussie teams, fairly balanced etc.

So an Aussie completely unlike Costigan...

I like tommy Smyth hahha, at least hes not boring, hes always having a go at someone. i mean he HATED Konteman hahah it used to be funny just hearing him bag him big time

Irving had a tendency to be a bit boring, but had his moments too. But he tended to cry a bit when we lost. Think back to AW's vs AUS '97 world cup qualifier at albany played on sand which we lost. or AW's vs AUS at caketin '01 (0-2). "But what a save by Jason Batty!"

ok for those who live away from welly, i apoligise you are important to the life of the phoenix and spread of this team throughout NZ,

i will change my mind forget ray warren or 12th man we should get a Greek commentator to just go nuts. my experience of listening to Pao games on the net the greek commentators just scream GGGGGGGOOOOOOO....OUT every shot and then when some one actually scores they go mental GOL!!! GOL!! GOL!! GOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this would certainly add flavour and entertainment value
