Absolutely PROAK, as i mentioned before Irving with Ngata as the commentator and comments man, and then Davis (sideline). Would work well i reckon...

To answer my own question Jason Pine will be doing commentaries on radio sport, barring clashes.

Tommy Smyth with a Y:
Y = Y the hell would you want him to
Y = Y does he still have a job let alone an entire TV show.
To quote Tommy Smyth "Thats a definate PK" WTF. Its a penalty. And "Back of the old Onion Bag". How about we put him in an old onion bag and throw him off a cliff. I say get Murray Walker out of retirement. He's a legend. And there's that guy on Radio Sport who makes bowls sound exciting. If the Kingz and Knights were anything to go by he may well be needed.
And someone please shoot de Jong, he is sh*t. And that chick who did the Chatham Cup final one year.
Piney would be good. And he is a great guy too.

Its no longer a problem.

Good commentators don't have to be funny, although a little wit goes a long way.  They just have to know when to speak and when to let the match speak for itself, and have a sense of the occasion.  Professional broadcasters are usually far btter at this than ex-players.

This is great.

It also helps if the broadcaster turns up the pitchside mic so you can hear the crowd. ESPN have a bad habit of turning the crowd volume far too low, and the commentry looses alot of thsi "sense of occiasio" because of it.

That's what you get when you're actually not at the ground, or in the same city, or country even, but rather sitting in the ESPN studios in the States doing the commentary!

To the Kiwis: What's your opinion on Grant "Nesbo" Nisbett? I personally like his calling, and doubt he knows a thing about the round ball game, but I'm interested to know if he's popular over there. Because I thought de Jong was, but I've been proved wrong.

jason costigan!!!!! the greatest commentater the warriors have ever seen. witty as hell. some of you may hate him but he's pretty on to it. doubt he can handle warriors, breakers and phoenix all together though and not too sure whether he knows too much about the game of football.
Worst commentator ever, we don't want this whiney voiced aussie outcast, he sounds like a broken record sometimes, he's got nothing but cliches

I agree, great topic.  Let's hope SKY reads it huh?

Can anyone seriously believe that outa 15 posts on here, 2 people have said Tommy Smyth?  I know that it could have been said as a joke but I don't think we can even joke about sh!t like that.  Honestly, talk about a way to spoil a game.  ESPN are awful, and to think we have to watch a massive match like the Champions League final and to hear him popping up.

Worst thing is, I heard ESPN has the rights for the next World Cup.

If ESPN have rights for the next world cup I might just cry. It'd be easier to watch the game by going over to South Africa as opposed to watching it over their budget, second-hand cameras.

Why don't we get Pavlos8?  If his talking is anything like his writing, we won't be able to understand him, but it will be great fun trying to work out what the fcuk he is going on about.
