yeah, clearly he's anti lockdowns and bubbles, no suggestion he wont come back to play for the Nix.

As he is a King's College old boy I imagine his folks are staunch National supporters (there are some exceptions to that).

Its no longer a problem.

And if he is having trouble getting his German partner into NZ (I'm just guessing here, there maybe no problem at all), in this post Covid world - then things maybe getting a little stressful/emotive.

*Hypothetically* I'd be gutted if Marinovic couldn't/didnt want to return to NZ/Aussie with his partner.

But having Oli Sail as our first choice keeper doesn't concern me

I was always Stefans biggest backer but ummmm after that post maybe he did spend a bit too much time in the pub and really did play pub football

Assuming the 18 man squad rumors are correct I think the final 5 players need to be a centre forward, three centre backs (with one able to cover LB) and TAHW.

For the next season, it is a minimum of 18 players, maximum of 23.

Atm we have 11 signed with TAHW, McGarry, Lewis, Laws & Sutton signed but unannounced according to the NZ media. So at least 2 more signings to come.

Can we sign that irish guy or has he gone back to Perth?

I know the ultimate goal for the Nix is to win the A-League and you should recruit the best players available no matter where they come from. But it warms the heart to see so many kiwis in the Nix squad.....and they are there because they are good enough.

agree and even though people dish ridenton we need another back up central midfielder and hebis giid enough

If we somehow manage to sign two decnet foreign players (stiker and central defender) who dont mind goiing on tour for 7 months, we will do ok

Liam McGing is currently on trials with WSW while Walter Scott is on trials with Macarthur.

Would be great to have DeVere re-sign with the Nix.

Sheridan was not that bad, just didn't get the starting 11 chances with Rudan. And when he did, it was mostly with the 2nd 11. He was pretty pacey, strong, and good in the air. Wouldn't mind paying a fee for him.

Yeah I liked Sheridan - I reckon he wasn't given a fair crack at things. He seemed a lot better than he was given credit for.

Superb news, was not expecting that email from the club at all. Domey explained why the radio silence, i'm ok with his reasoning for now. Onwards and upwards!

I'd love to have Sheridan back but given his age I wouldn't pay a transfer fee.

SO HAPPY we got Ball for two more seasons! He's an outstanding player. We do need a goal scorer to complement him though so let's hope for more good news soon

I think that Taylor + Steinmann were far more important to the team than Ball - who I think flattered to deceive for a lot of the season and is clearly not much of a goal scorer.  However, re-signing anyone in this climate is a miracle, so well done to Dome.

Given a choice between returning to England and playing in Australia I would think it was an easy call..just surprised its 3 years according to TV3.

Have to say, out of the 5 imports last season he would've been bottom of my list to re-sign - not a massive knock on Ball, I just think we had our best ever import cohort. As you say, some signing news is better than none and Ball will play a big role for us the coming season.

Just as Greenacre was when he played i think Ball is under valued by many. Think his contribution to the way we played last season is under estimated by many its know as much about what players we put around him to get the best out of him now.

Agreed.

I do think it's important to maintain some sort of contuinity though, so he's a big part of that.

I'm hopeful that because he hasn't signed anywhere yet, and that it looks like families will be allowed into NSW, that De Vere will be with us again.

good solid signing. Not like for like with Steinmann, but nice to beef up the midfield a bit. Shouldve signed 3 years ago though.

yeah, McCowatt vibes with the length of contract. But he's here and if that's his goal, moving onto Europe, he will need to perform which is good for the 'Nix.

I think/hope he might fit in better to Ufuks line up formation then McCowatt did.

Absolutely stoked with this. Also wish it was a longer contract, but oh well - can see him requesting that to take another shot at Europe, was very unlucky at Scun.thorpe with injuries and manager sackings

Talay spoke highly of him & said he was keeping tabs on him, he just couldn't sign anywhere until January. Guessing we wasted our remaining salary cap on Wilson instead of picking him up in that window.

Didn't Talay go to one of those Olywhites v Olyroos games in NSW late last year, when the Nix were in Aussie for a game?

Means he would have also seen Mcgarry in action at least once, in the flesh.

And yes as noted elsewhere, they bought in Lewis specifically to train with the Nix squad post those 2 Olyroos games. Should help him adjust to the A League quickly hopefully.
