These three need big seasons to warrant keeping on.

Good signing - I think one season is quite prudent.

This is clearly the start of the nix copying Declan in every way.

Assuming the knee problems come right, this is a great signing for the club.

Its an interesting management of the squad. All of our gun players contracts are up at the conclusion of this season

The so so players and many marginals meanwhile have another year under the belt

This must be the year we win the league!!

Better that way, means the bulk of the salary cap is available for use next season based on how we need to spend it.

According to today's announcement from the club re the issue of losing lots of kiwis due to FFA non-break policy for international windows, some of our kiwis around the all whites mix whose contracts expire at end of 17/18 could well be let go.

It's most likely just bargaining with Fifa coming to town.

I hope that our new striker is a Nathan Burns ver 2. Not scored much lately, but becomes a revelation for the Phoenix. That would be so cool and good for the club.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

More likely we do well  and that they all just fudge off at the same time

Daniel Mullen signs. Bit of left field signing. Pretty solid defensive addition all things considered.

Fantasic joke. Is he actually a RB though? I thought he was a CB?

Never had a problem with Mullen, usually played well against us for Adelaide seasons ago.

Will provide a rocket for that back line to keep everyone on their toes for starting places. Shrewd little signing I reckon.

... Is this sarcasm? Sometimes I can't tell. If not: Doyle, Rossi, Tratt?

Dura, Rossi, Lowry, Fox and now Mullen - back three in the offing?

I'm really happy with this signing. Will provide great competition for his fellow defenders and now we have more than sufficient depth when bad form, international call ups, injuries and suspensions inevitably happen throughout the season across the back-line.

BIG signing. Will help alot. Gee, unlike other years, the speculation thread has been quiet on these last few signings. Well done on the club. A lot of depth growing. No more Parkhouse out of position please.

Doyle and Tratt were wild stabs in the dark. Both turned out better than originally expected, but still not great or finished products. And only one of them is around now. Plus CB has been an area of weakness for ages. If we didn't have Rossi last year would have been even worse than it was.

Was just having a look, we have the 2nd worst record for goals conceded over the last 6 seasons in a tight tussle with the Jest (267 v 269). The next worst are CCM (254) and Melbourne City (245). The rest are well out of sight. Clearly it hasn't been an area of strength of late.

Wait so in a squad capped league we now have 5 cb's? Not saying he is a bad player but is he the right pick up when we have 4 others already in that  position. Again he might be better than 2 of the others but it doesnt change the fact we have 5 cbs contracted now

2nd worst after the Jets so we sign a Jets defender?

Good signing I suppose, but as people have said we have a pretty reasonable balance of talented youngsters and seasoned pros at CB.

specialist position, can't really convert players to play there - can be a little more flexible with some of the attacking and midfield roles.

Durante likely to start???

I think Lowry and / or Fox should be looking for a release. The reality is they are unlikely to get a run with this signing.

Signing makes me wonder,  is Dura's or Rossi's injury worse than we know ?

really like this signing

If we can now pull a class foreign striker signing from the Balkans  (Berisha) class, then I think we have a top 4 team

More likely that he will come in at RB, allowing Galloway to switch over to LB when Doyle is away with the AWs. It should be the end of the need to play Parkhouse at LB or Fenton & Ridenton at RB.
