The Nix give a lot of people a huge amount of pleasure and our city and region is so much richer for having the Nix.

The contribution the Nix make to the development of New Zealand football is also immense.

I hope Terry is justifiably proud of what he has given to so many through his passion and generosity.

I think reaching the milestone of our 500,000 Nix spectator at the RoF should therefore be celebrated.

Using the Westpac stadium website as gospel on games / attendances

The total number of people who have paid to watch the Nix play at the RoF is;

2007/08 season 107,304
2008/09 season 75,565
2009/10 season 144,317
2010/11 season (so far) 43,912

Pre-season cups 23,136
Exhibition games 43,614

Grand total; 437,848

We have 8 games at the RoF left for this season plus, hopefully, play-off games so we can reach 500,000 this season.

500,000 people at nix games means 500,000 people that aren't attending nzfc games.

We shouldn't be celebrating this.

Lol, to be honest you're wrong, because I for one was not a massive fan of football until the Phoenix were started. Oh and since then I've attended NZFC games so its increased the attendance there too. Win Win to be honest.

nyah, nyah, nyah.

I can't hear you.

To counter this I have been to one TW game because it was after the Nix season.  If it weren't for the Nix I would have gone to ALL of the TW games (home and away).

500,000 will be a travesty for the game in this country.

I will be happier if they break the 100,000 crowd figure for regular season games, as they really need to do that to keep the club from losing buckets of cash.

But 500,000 would be a great marketing milestone :)

Pretty sure between 12 & 15 thousand per game would be just break even

That's why I said break 100,000 for the season, not stop at 100,000 for the season :P

We'd need 150,000 for regular season (15 home games) to be breaking even, if the 10,000/game figure quoted previously still stands.

Three midweek Wednesday games will never help our crowd figures though

Need a PAX for the countdown to 500,000....

When the Phoenix came together we all had high hopes that it would turn into something more succesful than the ill fated Kings/knights. if someone had said back then that we would be closing in on half a million spectators before the end of season 4 we would have laughed. So well done Yellowfever......well done Wellington......well done rest of NZ.

As a comparison does anyone know what the total crowd for the kings/knights?  did it hit 50,000?

2010/11 season (so far) 49,494

Where does the A-league get it's figures from, I swear on the highlights show it said 5,778.  I assume the stadium figures are correct but then they've announced different things at the game and put different numbers on their website.

Good question. It was remarked upon last season that the stadium site and the A-League figures always differ. The A-League seemed to be in-line with what the announcements. I wouldn't assume one is more correct than the other per se, but someone has to be getting it wrong.

Perhaps the stadium is deducting the people who have left early for the last few games....

Interesting article in Melb Age today, talking about dwindling crowds in genaral, and we are way down on last year, unfortunately

5 regular season  home games to go
With our average crowd per game at 7314 we would then get to 490952

Will prob need to get a home play off game to top 500,000 this season
