Definitely a sensible move bringing in another keeper as cover for a week. Hopefully we'll see Rees in the starting line up too. The idea of playing Daniel at the back frightens me

Is there any chance that Elrich can get off this weeks suspension???

Or is the one week ban a definate thing???

I say tackle him in the face.

So how good is this Rees ,anyone know much about him, he could end up being the difference between wooden spoon and second bottom of the A .league!
What age is he ?typically the Scoop article is scant on detail, whats his career been like up until now?
Is Rees signed for the rest of the season or just as a patch up job for a couple of games and have i missed something who on earth is seriously  suggesting Daniel plays in defence (Harfish)??
Sorry i don't know all the answers to these things but sometimes even  a mind as brilliant as mine misses things  and the lack details provided by  the media doesn't help!

Daniel is a fantastic left-back, probably better there than on the left wing to be honest.  At times this season he's practically filled in as a third central defender as well due to the amount of covering he's done!

Kristain Rees 27 years old played for 2 seasons with AUFC, plays central defender. it was a shame we let him go. it is also believed that Ivan Karlovic from the South Australian State league is about to sign for the phoenix.

Daniel will get absolutely blistered for pace if he plays left back. Please don't put me through that.

Definitely noted for his pace and strong tackling, is our Daniel

and his height and kicking strength..and not to mention the ability to jink and pass his way out of trouble with is back to goal on the edge of the penalty area.

Back on topic though..the real defender sounds good.....do the rules allow for week long cover as long as you are still under quota?..ie coudl we go with a diferent player each week.......ie next week we need a striker so grab someone?

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

I personally dont see the sense in bringing in a keeper, it is highly unlikely Moss will get injured/sent off.

Worth the risk of not having one.

Why take the risk ?  The rules allow us to, we have to name a keeper on the bench, we may as well sign one.  It's beyond the cap.  I just don't see any negatives in doing it.

The impression I have from most Adelaide fans (like our friend above) is that they think Rees should still be an Adelaide player.

It's surely a bigger risk to not have a substitute keeper than it is to pay a wee bit to get one for a while. I'm sure most people would be utterly spewing if Moss had to go off and we had no proper keeper to replace him.

How tall is tall? If he's half the size of Jan Koller then I'm happy.

Actually, there's a thought, Koller's getting on, we could do with him as a striker. He's a brilliant player.

your faith in the good nature of aussie footballers is touching,

so if we start the game with no keeper on the bench, I'm sure those nice young men from Sydney wouldn't for one minute consider turning that decision to their advantage as Mossy goes up for the ball

I heard that Adeliade released Rees because he was "too slow" for Vidmar's new look defence, but he still looks like a player who will add quality to our back line. Does anyone know if Rees has signed for the rest of the season or just for this weeks cover?? He would be a very good purchase for the remainder of the season.

This would be the new look defence based around the mighty shin(Cornflake), and Costanzo and Valkanis on crutches... ARF !

Got to agree, has experience, so all looks good, and hope he can do it. Impressed with the way the Boss is going about things, first of all dropping the deadwood, (and to those who say we hardly saw George and Clebo, he saw them 7 days a week, that's good enough for me!) and moving to get a good replacement

Cheers, hope he creates a good partnership with Dodd. Young and old combination works well in defence.

They were both born in 1980... only about 10 months between them.

Koller is still playing for Monaco and the Czech national team... let's not be foolish.

So which position will Rees be slotted into? The left? Can't seem to find that info yet.

Couldn't I volunteer as substitute goalkeep for the week?- I'm quite tall and would like to sit closer to the play - just throw in a return airfare to Aussie and I'd be happy.
