Prime News: mention of game as last item of Sports segment.  No story.  Weak banter about 'fingers crossed for the first win.'

Conclusion: piss weak but at least they mentioned it.

TV3: Nothing.  Not even a mention.

Missed One's news, but I'm guessing we got fk all there too.

What do we have to do to get the media interested?

Guy.

slam them when they are slack, stroke thier egos when they get it right - same as for most of us in our work i guess

they seemed to respond to that approach as pre-season progressed

i can't be arsed emailing tv 1 and 3 tonight - done my shift of media slamming in the direction of the dompost today

TV1 had good segment, shot of some guys in the pool, shots of goals scored and conceded.  Only baddie was embarassing questions to Herbert and some Aussie player in the team (dunno who he was/is) about is the Phoenix the new Kingz/Knights.

Don't expect anything from Prime.  No reporters and cameras equals no coverage of anything they cant source from somewhere else.

And I have given up on TV3.  3/4 of sports news is rugby so guaranteed no football.

I let my guitar speak for me

Yeah, TV3's coverage of football has definitely dropped as they have to milk every last drop out of their "exclusive" World Cup rugby coverage....

Inneresting.

Used to be the other way round back in my day.  TV1 were useless, 3 were good.  Maybe I should review my news viewing preferences.

Prime do a good job on limited resources, but I'm sure they could have sourced some footage of Sydney (or even the Nix) from Sky News Australia who they share stories with pretty regularly.

I find Tigers post quite ironic.
In one breathe he is quite rightly berating the TV media coverage, or more to the point lack of, but doesn't bother complaining to them
But yet on the same day he has written an email of complaint to the Dom Post, the only media that had previewed tonight's game and along with the local newstalk zb guys the only media that actually covers the phoenix.

James 28, you raise what might seem a reasonable point,

but  -have you read the piece below Daniel's picture in the paper? It needed a response (seee the John Chanter thread)

and you certainly haven't read my letters to either John Chanter or the editor

Chanter's reply acknowledged the "constructive and well considered nature" of my email - i was not slamming the paper as such, and acknowledged their overall good efforts  - i was criticising the action not the actor

i probably spent 45 mins on those two emails,

when you've put 45 mins of your day into pushing the phoenix cause with the media let me know and I'll reconsider adding to my my input for the day

(ps I've sent emails to tv 1 and 3  -by now this will run into double figures - can you match that for the good of the club?)

again i'll see you and I'll raise you - for the good of the club

Good to hear Tigers. Yes, I did see the piece and you're probably right, although those sidelines things are meant to be a piss take (admittedly very poor attempts sometimes) so can't read too much into them I think.
I reckon I could well and truly raise you on time spent lobbying the media about the Nix, just quietly, but we'll call it a day and enjoy the game. Go the NIX!!

anyone who writes considered emails/letters to the media are awesome for doing so
I like tautologies because I like them.

fair dos James28, and cheers for your reply,

my guess is you work for the dom  and have done heaps of in-house lobbying  - if so , my hat's off to you (and if I'm wrong - well it wouldn't be the first time)

and yeh I'm happy to chill on any compeitive tone i got into,

let's just enjoy the game, hopefully it'll be a good un!!

CMON YOU NIX!!!
