Hi guys

Hope your are all well, my names Craig and I'll be heading out to Wellington and NZ in March following the cricket. Tour regular and looking forward to making my first visit to NZ

I was hoping to come to one of your games, back in England I follow a small football team called Mansfield Town and as I'm sure some of you may know your assistant manager is an ex Mansfield Town legend, the one and only Chris Greenacre. Our own song we sing is "yellows" despite it's actually amber we play in, but we'll always sing and be known as yellows so quit apt for you guys with Yellow Fever, we used to have a fanzine with the same name some years back

I've seen your fixtures and gutted your not at home when I'm there, I see your in Dunedin on the 3rd, I arrive there on the 7th. I regular take my flag with me with our nickname "Stags" on and aim for prime TV position, would love to have took that to your game hoping for Chrissy to spot.

Let me know if you have any do's or events on when I'm in Welly as I see your playing away on the 17th, be good to have a drink, well a few with you guys :) I'm there from 13th - 19th

Hi there and Welcome. A few guys usually get together at a local pub to watch some of our away games so that may be an option. Just keep an eye on the message boards.

We also have another connection with Mansfield town, one of the clubs former favourites Shane Smeltz and presently highest all time scorer in the A league spent a very short time with Mansfield in 2005, making just 5 appearances before moving onto Wimbledon AFC.

Hey Craig,

Feel free to join us.  If we have anything on other than matchday it will be all over the forums.  Matchday we'll be at the Four Kings for the away game.

Also in those timeframes, on 22nd the All Whites play a World Cup qualifier somewhere in NZ as well.  We're just waiting for NZ Football to get their shit together and tell us where as quite a few of us will be heading there the following weekend if the final location suits your itinerary.

The lads also train in the Mornings at Newtown Park in Wellington, about 15 mins from Coutenay Place by bus.
I am pretty sure Greenie would be pleased to have a chat with you. They are all super approachable. You could probably even arrange something in advance by contacting the club  at  reception@wellingtonphoenix.com.

Fantastic that thank you, no harm in giving the club a try

Our yellow is really more amberish too (if we are talking about traditional Wgtn colours).  Our 2009/10 and 2010/11 strip is a better reflection of our yellow than the garish one at the moment.

I must admit I don't like the Adidas version. A bit all over the shop with fundamentally stripes only on the front.

But the Adidas away strip is the best shirt of all time. End of story!

Only if there was a long-sleeved version.

There are many excellent bars in wellington. try a few of the craft beer ones before deciding on "the pub", which is tied to one brewery

A simple search on web will bring up a few. Also search for SOBA NZ, that will give a few pointers to a decent pint..(also sign up with them ($30.00) and get discounts of up to 25%)

Cheers
