Win and they will come!
Does that graph not disprove this somewhat? Crowds have been roughly the same average each season, only rising if there is a run into the finals.
Of course small data set, so in the extreme case that we are in 2nd place pushing for first, this effect could happen earlier. It's a shame we have the Hutt rec games as it robs us of a chance to see how early crowds start to build when we are this high in the table.
I quite like the idea of giving Auckland a game each season, then having a second game rotating between Christchurch, Napier, Hamilton to keep the novety factor for the smaller areas.
I'm a bit biased, but reckon Nelson is definately worth a crack. Relatively easy to get to, lots of extra people in town over summer, and a pretty big interest in football. The previous mayor was a big part of the push to get a ASBP team and is involved in the Falcons, who get good crowds for a youth team. The Falcons, Canterbury United when they have played home games there and all visiting teams are apparently treated very well down there.

I think it just delays the build up of the crowds. Assuming the Hutt games are maxed out at 9k it probably gives us a modest increase in our average attendance when we come back to westpac. If we are still within the top 2 or even the top 4 then our situation is more or less the same as the end of Round 14.
To put it into language that 2B can understand.
It's as if our GHG emissions were physically curbed for a short period but then the restrictions are lifted and we can continue on the same trajectory as previous.
The temporary scarcity of Nix tix may well make demand for them stronger once supply once more expands.
We may end up with scalpers outside the stadium selling tickets. How crazy would that be?!

I like this idea. Could take a leaf from NZ Cricket's book and visit one of the tourist towns while people are on holiday.

Or just play every match in Welly. Novel idea I know

Hutt Rec games instead of taking games away if they go well. I'm fine with a game in Auckland toward the end of the season to potentially boost the coffers.

I suggested this a coupla years ago and got laughed down.
But if we don't have a sell out then we won't be taking the games to Lower Hutt again. They'll have had their chance and we should then look at other places like Weka Park.
I lived round the corner on Tui Road as a kid. Never played football there but a few games of cricket.
My junior team beat West Subs Wekas 23 -0 on Nairnville Park.
Weka Park, many memories there as a kid, home park of my first club. Before moving to a better club who played at Mazengarb.
Boooo! Raumati Hearts 4 Life! ;-)

Which stadium is closest to Auckland Airport? So if our game finishes at 7pm, we might have a chance to get the last flight out to Wellington.

Gold Coast only limited ticket numbers in their final season when they got the wooden spoon IIRC, there was no final's run after the tickets were limited. Also, theres no point comparing to Gold Coast because they had all sorts of problems beyond just the crowd sizes.
That was because if Clive Palmer had more than 5k show up to a game he lost a sizable subsidy from the local Govt. Money meant more to him than football or fans.

We lived downstairs at no. 5.
Will "Ring of Fire" ever get accepted by the media?

It really kills the local derby when the two clubs merge! Go Raumati Hearts!
You dont see the Nix playing preseason at Mazengarb.

It pops up in the Australian media. Pretty sure I've heard Simon Hill call it that at least once during a game.

Sherlock lived at 221B
We're talking about Raumati here. More likely to find Jed, Granny, Ellie May and Jethro on one side of the street and Herman, Lily, Grandpa, Eddie and Marilyn on the other.
I thought they lived in the Waiarapa?
