your not wanted in the capital i'm sorry to say,
stick to ruining the all whites danny hay!

you've lost your speed your way too slow,
you'd give away penalties, then have to go!

back to auckland were you want your home,
conducting the team talks down a phone!

we want a team with passion and heart,
not with a back four run by a silly old fart!

riki your a great coach you must see the light,
kick danny into touch cos he's #ing sh#te!

phoenix fan!

Yeah this posting pretty much sums up how I feel about Hay as well. You want your team to be pretty close-knit and having players commute from Auckland to play games won't help that.
Hay does a job adequately for Waitakere United - when he isn't injured, but at A-League level he will be targeted by opponents and be found out to be a weak link.

I agree totally. Danny Hay let him play in the NZFC.  Hay just isn't up to A League standard or international standard either. What we wouldn't give to have Rysie Nelsen at the back and Killen up front!

Haha love it. Ricki will sign him before anyone else, we all know it. :@

Alas I fear that you'll be proved right!  When he's not injured he'll be the weak link in defence, and probably get in a huff with Ricki and walk out on the club!!!!:-(

I would have liked to have seen Jonas Salley, Alan Marcina and Lei Lei Gao in the team along with Bertos, Mulligan, James, Killen, Nelsen, possibly a fit Simon Elliott.  Haven't sorted out my preferred team yet tho.. Moss and Pasty as the keepers though.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Salley is at Adelaide. Marcina is with Puerto Rico who's season doesnt finish til about A-League round 10. Leilei Gao has now moved to Finland so i dont suspect he will return. Bertos is on a 2 year contract with Perth, he wants out but they will want a fee or something. Nelsen, Elliot and Killen at the moment, NO. Mulligan i dont think will leave England and Fulham wont lend us James.

Moss and Paston keepers, Yes definatly.

Looks like four Brazilians and a few locals then??

Danny Hay is nowhere near as bad as everyone makes him out to be. I know he didn't play well at all during the All Whites tour of South America, but none of our players played well on that tour. I think it would be good if Hay was given a short-term contract to prove himself.

Che is just as good (or better) and didn't splash himself over the papers saying he wouldn't move to Wellington...

How's my driving? - Whine here

Yeah Danny Hay did himself no favours with fans by sl*gging of the Capital. I haven't seen him play this year but the apparently he was voted by  the NZFC coaches as the best centre back of the competition (NZFC website)...thought maybe they just liked having him in the opposition.

who cares he flat out said he wasn't interested in playing for a welligton franchise
then the auck bid pulls out  we score the  spot  and hello  "i could play for wgtn? '

fark off  he was too disruptive at the knights he'll be the same if he came here

and panda your bang on with your rhyme

Unfortunately I don't think Danny is capable for a stretch of games at this level anymore. His lack of pace was exposed by ACFC in the final as it had been on the South American tour with the AW'S.PROAK2007-04-18 22:18:47

Danny Hay, you've had your Day, please don't come here to play.  I watched you against Barcelona I thought you were good, but now I realise, you're just a dud.
If you do show danny boy, you need to know that respect is earnt and man do you have a lot of crawling to do to win us over. (and Im a die hard Leeds fan to boot)

Nope he was rubbish.

It is almost inevitable that Danny hay will Sign for upwards of 100000 dollars and end up training 2days a week and playing on weekends. Possibly even made captain...
This is not only rediculous as anyone can see he struggled recently for the all whites and seems to only be a disruptive influence on the team...

Your thoughts....

-Dont sign him!-

Just read in NZ City , my home page that Ricky Herbert says that if players want to play for the "NIX that they will have to live in Wellington too.Good  job, it wil stop people like Mr Hay from commuting. It also shows that the admin/support staff mean total comminment to the success for this team.

danny hay can get lost.i dnt want players like him on the team-his attitude towards the phoenix frm th start has bn sh*te and frankly so is he!
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
He was awful in the first leg of the O League final and did not have enough speed to track back and shut down the Ba striker and caused the first goal so Waitak was on the back foot early.
I could see a trend if he was at the back for the Phoenix so this is another NO to Danny please stay at NZFC level.

"A Nix insider said it was unlikely Herbert would allow Hay to commute from Auckland during the season. But the bond between the country's coach and captain is a strong one".

"Herbert will be banking on Hay accepting a generous salary offer to uproot his family and move to the capital".

It's disappointing to read that Herbert might throw money at him to try and get him to come down to Wellington.

And from the popularity of this topic, i think its fair to say that he's got some hard times ahead to get us on his side.

As I posted a while ago, most times I have seen Herbert at games, Hay is right there hanging off him. They sat together like best pals at the NZ A v Tahiti game at Mt Wellington. I suspect the Phoenix will throw good money at him, he will come, and he will be a huge disappointment.
He's not going to be quick enough for starters and he's injury prone. You're better off looking elsewhere because I just don't see him being value for money.
Skinny B rightly observed how he didn't have the pace to track back and remember in the NZFC final he got lobbed up front at the end, as some form of emergency striker. It was pretty lame. I'm sure Steve Cain could have hauled him off and put someone else with a bit of enthusiasm on.
I'd be highly disappointed if the Phoenix look at him seriously.

Dany Hay - Playing for the phoenix...rubbish...he's an awful player, has been so since he was 11 when all you needed to be a footballer in NZ was tall, rubbish and in Fallon's back pocket (i.e. from Auckland) either that, or related to him...i.e Sean...awful, just awful...

danny hay has his positves he's brilliant in the air and his distrubution ain't bad but his speed and his general defensive and marking abilitie and his im bigger than the team attitude makes him some what of a liabilitiy, not to mention the big wage he will demand
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

Danny Hay is average in the NZFC, Tall, Lanky, slow and defensive ability poor.

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Well should Waitakere not win their O-League 2nd leg against Ba, our Danny will probably be on the hot-line to his good buddy Herbert to seal the deal. We're all intelligent enough to know that there is a gap between the NZFC and the A-League and Hay just isn't up to it anymore.
Should he be signed then I'm afraid you are going to be seeing him whinging like a whinging thing everytime the ball goes in the back of the net. It will be everyone elses fault according to Danny.
I truely hope he isn't signed. As my old mate Hard News says, Che Bunce would be a far better option. Che is fit and not prone to injury. Hay is injury prone and prone to injury, and S L O W.
This is going to break my heart to say, but even plodder is quicker than Hay.

Hey Phil, just wondering where the quote came from??
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Thanks for that Phil, I just really hope that source is accurate.

Maybe Ricki has changed his mind as he may have read the disgust at the signing on this forum haha :)

I am sad about Noah Hickey though I was really hoping he would be amongst it as he is a very good utility and has speed!

PAST HIS USED BY DATE - SHOULD NOT BE SIGNED AT ANY COST, A TOP CLASS CENTRE BACK IS REQUIRED TO MAKE THIS TEAM COMPETITIVE AND ANYONE AS SLOW AS HAY IS NOT OR SHOULD NOT  BE ON THE SHOPPING LIST.
ps you were once a top player Danny

I saw a couple of former Kingz players out last night who still play - and they had similar thoughts about Danny. In fact one suggested that if he had lost his voice he'd have to be benched cause all he's good for now is shouting at his team mates.
