Yeah, We were sick of copping an arsehole of a draw at World Cop Qualification time so we campaigned hard to get allowed into Asia. The fact that the remaining nations in Oceania are pants actually helped us somewhat

It highlights the point that there are two many people trying to get a slice of pie (not Ahmed Elrich).
NZF, the FFA, the Phoenix, the Stadium, the caterers, TV, the council, ticketek.
The consumer ends up being shafted, and unfortunately they are voting with their feet as they have other options - they can watch the game on Sky for free at the local pub for example and come away with plenty dollars in hand. Or they don't bother to watch at all.
Personally, I think prices have come down, the food at the stadium is better and its a better experience, but then again Ive always been a season ticket holder anyway and I love the live experience.

Hang on, do people actually dispute this?
Chit Chats are the worst. Chit Chats are just a marketing scam devised after someone took a shark on a Tim Tam and made a bet with his mate that he couldn't sell the result.
As they say, you can't polish a turd, but you can call it a Chit Chat and sell it for three bucks a pack.

It's all academic to me.
We are not big consumers of expensive biscuits these days.
Our biscuits are good, honest, no frills Girl Guide Biscuits (left overs from trying to sell box loads to a GG biscuit weary k-town).
Coal-face, amateur, dependable, what you see is what you get.

Exactly what is Dome's motivation to come out and say that Welnix may walk away if our players take industrial action?
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Disagree with you 100%.
I think Domey did a fantastic job in that article/interview.
Everything he said I agreed with.
We, everyone, needs to avoid a players' strike. It would be catastrophic. Someone needed to tell the truth and say there is a very real risk that WelNix would say, "You know what, sorry, but we're out... this league is unsustainable with demands like this. Cya". I think that is a reasonable, justified and logical stance for WelNix to be considering taking in the circumstances, and I think Domey explained why quite clearly and quite well.
The PFA need to hear that message being said.
We're not here to fudge spiders at this stage.
I honestly don't know how you can read that article and see it as a "Pre-emptive strike at the Nix players" by Domey. He's CLEARLY not having a go at the Nix players. He is reported as follows:
"Dome doesn't think the Phoenix players "are in that space" where they would consider a strike."

Because he was asked and his opinion as someone in the middle but isolated is valid.
Personally I think this is another shot in the foot from Dome. He needs to shut the fudge up because he is out of his depth when dealing with the media. He is telling us (fans) that the owners are not committed to the club and would walk away if their own players went on strike. Whether or not they strike ( and I think they would if the Aussie club players did), if the players across the Tasman strike there would be no A League competition. How is that meant to make us feel? At the very least, he is being misquoted, then it is happening far too often.
The whole article is inflammatory clickbait. Unfortunately, combined with the license extension bullshark, it's not good timing for the club to be trying to sell season tickets and hype up the start of the season. That article could just have easily been headlined "Dome confident of license extension" and the content inversed so a throw away comment about player strikes would have been at the end.
RE: the player strike situation, the situation is a bit of a weird one because the PFA are striking against the FFA, who provide their contracts and salaries. But the action will hurt the clubs who will still have to pay all their regular overheads (non-playing staff, rent, etc) while losing ticket revenue and so on. Other than making the FFA look bad, what does a player strike do to them? Would it make them in violation of their contract with Fox Sports? Or is that money already paid?
Anyway, what with the Jest in FFA hands, Roar going down the gurgler, and us without a license extension then maybe the A League will be back down to an 8 team comp next year and 30+ PFA members won't have professional contracts anymore anyway. The league has a lot of shark to sort out right now....

I get the sentiment both ways about it being a good time to speak up and a poor time to speak up but either Dome is a moron in front of the press or someone really has it in for him. I think he is better off leaving him thunderstix to draft his statements.
Grumpy old bastard alert
In the world of industrial bargining Dome is still clearly in kindergarten....That's a very foolish "off the cuff, I didnt mean it like that" take out. Or if this was a calculated shot, it shows piss poor judgement....

The worst thing was bringing up the licence situation.
Seemed like a dig at the FFA around the license extension saga. But why play that out in the media? Unless they need something to help push their case forward?
Also the bit about the FFA subsidising NZF was new (to me anyway, I thought from previous articles it was about football with a small f).
But overly negative, not a great look, nor would it fill the casual fan with much confidence about the club.
I thought he was a little Twitty before I read the piece and I think hes right.
They loose money having the Nix here. If the PFA forces them to pay out more money then they should be allowed to say f**k this we are out then.
On the flip side, bringing the drama closer to home is severely going to risk ticket sales. To the regular Nix croud it may not be the biggest issue but if you are a general punter weighing up getting one then why would you buy a season pass if you think they whole things going to turn to shark?
It does seem like his statements should have been made between management and the team, and the response to the media should be "we are regularly working closely with our players to ensure they understand us and we understand them, blah blah blah".
[/quote] Its just dumb and would have been better left unsaid.

They've said a few times now that the FFA feel that NZ Football and Sky aren't pulling their weight with regards to the nix. Even though the Phoenix are independent of both organisations and has not been involed with these negotiations. The stand off is strictly commercial and the Phoenix are unfortunately collatoral damage.
Sorry Brandon but I for one am bloody sick of hearing that Welnix will walk away for this reason or that. This isnt first time this sort of thing has been said for what ever reason. Here we are at the start of a season and they want people to commit to the club yet what do we here that Welnix could walk away if something dosnt go the way they want. Would be great if we could go through a season without the fans being told yet again that those backing the club may walk away if something dosnt happen the way they want.

think how the players and staff feel too

Except it's clearly bollocks.
It's clearly a message that all parties in the club agree on. Our players don't want to be involved in it, our owners are still going full steam in expanding the work the club do and Domey is the front man for putting pressure on the FFA for the benefit of this club about issues like the impasse with the PFA and licence extentions..
Also, it's an article up to the usual standard from stuff these days.
Just because we won a pre-season game people need something else to break out the 'we're doomed' about.
Thats fine News but its to simple to just blame stuff or the news media etc etc. We hear this every season over something from Welnix that they will walk away for whatever reason.Yep dosnt affect us tragics but sorry it does have an affect on those with just a passing interest when they read this sort of stuff continually.
