Decision time (jinx-free-zone)

So, as a lifelong cricket player, fan, and umpire - I've agonised over whether to go to the game or not. My head says that as much as I love the Nix, I have never had (and may never get) the chance to watch us in a CWC final... and the chance that we may even win it... history in the making. Whilst, I can see the Nix next week... etc etc...

Earlier this week, I'd pretty well decided to give the Nix a miss - though was never really comfortable (felt this weird, unfamiliar emotion... betrayal perhaps?).

Anyway, TFMSW and I were chowing down at a Petone cafe this morning and she was reading The Doom Post... pointed out the Bannergate article. Then piped up that Dura has said I have to go, and she's offered to taxi - so go I must!... so that's that then - I'll be at the stadium at 4pm (opening) to watch the cricket pre-match and the first half hour in the Mezz Bar, before watching the Nix.

How about the rest of you? (yeah-yeah, not a real fan, blah-blah) lol.

Some tough decision for people. Nix would always come first for me. But don't mind/care if that isn't the case for others.

I'm aiming to do something similar to you Surge. It's a tough call alright, but I think there will also be something a bit special about following the cricket at the Nix game too. A sort of fan-football-cricket threeway, if you will.

A bit easier for me. I will watch the football and every 15 mins or so flick over to get the cricket score.

Have to say if I lived in Wellington, I would be at the game.

I'm very torn, but I will be at the game and watching cricket as well, probably bring headphones for commentary in one ear.

Wife is coming to pick us up afterwards, so will head home and watch the Cricket after that, and record the F1 to watch later (oH and there is a Triathlon on as well :P)

I'm liking the headphones idea Jono!

I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea or if it is even legal, but have the Nix thought about having it on the big screen and sing that fact?

I thought I saw something that said they'd play the cricket on the big screen during half time.  Obviously can't/shouldn't play it during the game.

Otherwise I think it'll be on the concourse TV's and in the Mezzanine Bar area.

Will have it on pre-game, and halftime, but asked FFA and were told they couldn't have it on during the game.

Will be on every second TV in concourse according to article, and at one end of Mezzanine Bar as well :D

Will be updates in a feed along bottom of screen, and also the announcer giving updates for 50s and wickets.

depends on the weather! ;>)  I think I will need a break from 7 hours of cricket so will probably be there for 4.30, watch at halftime and maybe catch end after football before driving home to Pram in between innings.

@5 PM TODAY;

TV1: Martin Clunes - Heavy Horsepower

TV2: Home and Away omnibus

TV3: Ice Road Truckers

TV4: Entertainment Tonight

Maori TV: RWC 2011 SA vs Wales

TV2 looks good until 6 pm and then possibly TV3 News if it has Sacha McNeil presenting.

I'll check on this thread from time to time to see what the score is.  Keep the language civil please chaps.

are you all forgetting the 50 shades of grey screening at 430pm?

I'm also torn. Keep changing my mind but at the moment I'm going to stay at home and watch it all.

Got accused of not being a real fan (whatever that is) because of this, but they can GGF, especially after i gave up yesterday to do football/fever stuff. It's a potentially once in a lifetime event vs an (important) fortnightly event. 99.9999% of the time nix will come first, but not this time.

If the nix weren't in finals contention this year I would probably be in Melbourne watching the cricket live. So nix came first in that regard.

Where is the mythical Mezzanine Bar in the RoF? I always hear about it but I've got no clue where it is

Wander around to the eastern side, and look for an escalator heading up on the outside.
