He's not alone..

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Oviously De Jong was perfect all the time in every game he ever played.
Or is he a has been who is rightfully bitter at never having the chance to play A League Football in Wellington.

Having watched Fred play in the NSL that is a bit harsh.  He was a quality forward for New Zealand (21 full caps) and late in his career the Kingz.

He may not be the worlds best commentator but he doesn't deserve to have his playing ability sl*gged.

How's my driving? - Whine here

I never said anything about his ability one way or another.
Only that he sounds bitter.

I luv it how media "commentators" are sl*gged off whenever they have a differing opinion... rightly or wrongly... if it's an ex player - they're called bitter/twisted/resentful/angry/etc for xyz reason... or, if they weren't a player - they're sl*gged off cos they've never played to xyz level so their opinion counts for nought anyway!!!

At the end of the day people are giving their OPINION... and as someone has rather eloquently pointed out before... opinions are just like ar5eholes - everbody's got one!

Just me observationalising (same thing in UK, same thing in AUS - irrespective of code) not making any accusations of course, as I doubt I clearly lack the credibility to do so!!!

De Jong scored a bunch of goals for Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands as well. Can't be bothered checking up on his stats though.

The only two commentators/former players from New Zealand I enjoy are Harry Ngata & Mark El**ch

I thought Fred only said what plenty of others on here had said and yet he's been called a whole lot of names, some by people who have ragged on Dodd on this very site.

agree with HN. Fred might not be a dogs balls of a commentator, but it's an opinion from a top player.

Anyhow,  I  don't agree with him, and that's my opinion

Yeah, I don't get it. Dodd played bad. He knows he did, too.

Fred is doing his job, good on him for having an opinion. Thats exactly what we need, knowledgeable ppl with the courage to say things.
Fred was also a class player for the Kingz and no doubt his other clubs.
I hope he keeps up the good work.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet
