Has anyone read the editorial some clueless muppet wrote in the dom post? he basically suggests that ricki should not be coach anymore, wondering why we are trying to play attacking football whist not having top quality defenders.
1. it was stated from the start that this year was to build
for next year!
2. ricki was not given much time to pick a squad, and had to
choose players that the other 7 teams hadn't chosen already.
From what ricki was given he has done a fantastic job this
year. and next year is going to be way better!

Nemo, I quite agree with your assessment.
Whilst I cringe at our defence, Ricki has got the midfield and
to some extent the attack sorted. He's learning on the go too. I'm
glad he is our manager and hope he stays for the long term. With
this season behind us, it is now up to the players to stand up and
be counted. Ricki has given them their chance.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Mmmm fantastic and great are not 2 words that i would use in
describing this season unless its in reference to YF.Does seem as
if some of you need to remove that patch from the eyes. What he has
written is no worse than some of the stuff that has been posted on
here this season.

Hmmm, I'll take the middle ground here. Although I think Ricki has
done a great job setting up the team, I am concerned that he has
been unable to stop our defence leaking like a seive.
Saying that, I think he should definitely be given another season. He was never going to get it 100% right in the transfer market, not every single signing was going to work out perfectly and I think he got a few to many wrong in the defence department.
What I would like to see in the off season is Ricki recruit well to sort out an obvious area of weakness and help the team work on a good sound plan for when they lose the ball, at times there were far to many mix ups around who was taking the ball carrier and who was picking up runners.

Just being pedantic but there was nothing in the editorial
about football whatsoever.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Ricki hasn't been able to stop the defence leaking because he
hasn't had the best players for the job. Remember the Phoenix only
came into existence a few months before the start of the season,
meaning all the other clubs had a big head start in choice of
players. We ended up with several who have been weak
at the back, and this has cost us at least 5-6
points. Considering this I think Ricki has done a very
good job.

I think Ricki had high hopes for Cleberson, he did play dutch first
division afterall, and is still reasonably young. When he didn't
work out i think it left to big of a whole to be plugged.
Will not be an issue next year. Top four.
