"In other transfer news, Wellington Phoenix are expected to trial an unnamed 24-year-old Dutch striker when they play Melbourne Victory in Queenstown at the end of next month.
It's believed the player has just been released by Dutch second-tier side Dordrecht FC and was recommended by Gold Coast United midfielder Zenon Caravella who also had a stint in the Dutch lower leagues."

No mention of Juliana but Resham Sardar's name is floating around. Seems to be 50/50 with the fans...

From what I'm reading, Sardar has been injured and never got a real shot. Apparently was a very entertaining player but only got a little game time..

Juliana only joined Dordrecht this year, so I'd say that Sardar would be more likely. If he WAS released so early, I'd have a few concerns.
Reading his profile on the Dordrecht site, it looks like Sardar went under treatment for a head injury this past season and had vision problems. He was aiming to return to full match fitness by March.
As for Juliana, apparently he chose to sign for a lower division club, for family reasons I think. Which makes it more unlikely.
PS Orange FTW. The 'nix should at least wear orange socks. I'm sure rightstr will agree

Dont think it will be him, he is only 1.66 m tall, and we are looking for a target men

He's either very versatile or every profile has him in a different position...
Messi's about the same height isn't he?

Just trialling though?

Seems like a player more in the Costa/Krishna/Kruse etc mould rather than a target man.

We're looking to sign three strikers in total IIRC, so that could mean C. Greenacre + R. Sedar + T. Argetman

Exactly - our Dutch/ Hindu Messi. Similar positions too

Give him the number 19 and we'll see how he goes.

Great call - then next year when Ferrante leaves, he'll pick up the number 10

Messi is 1.69
3 cm can make all the difference

Anyway I would have thought we would be going for trialling a couple of big guys, we dont want to put all our hopes onto one triallist, in much the same way as we trialled both Krishna and Corrales for the one spot.
I'm picking it aint this guy for those reasons

The guy's tiny. Say's he's Dutch-Syrian, although the name looks Hindi. I'm hoping he isn't one of the two european strikers we were told about - hope he's additional to them.
This guy could probably play well with Krishna <-- that comment based purely on them looking similar.

this off season has just got a hell of a lot better.
remember the days before greenacre when we hadnt signed anyone for like 3 months since the season had finished?!
We've still only signed two players in the entire off season :)
Still, it is getting more interesting - I agree.

Some of you think this is a bad idea. what if he turns out to be one of the best players in the league?
I hope this is correct.
. A dutch player; even from the lower league could be exactly what the Phoenix need. perhaps we will pick him up instead of Krishna and then grab a tagetman and one of the other European trialists as well.

Too optimistic??

It is a bit worrying to note that Juliana hasnt made an appearance yet this season. on that note I think I would rather have this hindu-dutch feller

From what i saw in the other thread the second striker ain't too small from what Tony P said. Nothing said about where hes from either..

Height is not necessarily an issue, there have been some very good small strikers over the years.

George for example
ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

I was thinking more of people like Peter Beardsley,Ian Rush,Tony Cottee,Diego Maradona and from my days supporting Napier City Rovers,Paul Halford and Gary Parker were all short players who could play.I agree George was sh*te.
