Decisions really need to get back to whether or not the handball is deliberate. Even the VAR footage shows this wasn’t deliberate or even marginal.
I dont see how going back to a subjective interpretation is going to solve anything, it's just going to make the situation worse. The VAR can show if a ball hit someones hand and where the hand was, but its never going to conclusively prove something is deliberate or not. Perhaps the problem isn't with the handball rule, which to me makes perfect sense, but the issue is that a handball in the box always results in a penalty which is an unnecessarily harsh punishment for what is mostly a minor infringement. Though with that said I don't know how to solve this issue without some sort of subjective judgement on intent which is clearly what the rule change is designed to avoid.
All fouls on the pitch are subjective, most of them don't have the consequence for an easy way to scoring goals. Maybe they simplify the rule, if you arms close, touch your body, and the ball hits it, it's a pen. No discussion, maybe sharkty rule, but at least a clear rule. The handball on the weekend clearly changed the direction of the ball, it was maybe on target, or to another player to score, it would punish us not given.
We may get rid of the pen for handball for these cases and instead it would be free kick. It more reset of the situation.
The worst on this discussion is all the conspiracy theory from WSW. Babbel had seen a lot of football, he should know better than that. They could not score when they where on top of us, and is was clear that we would play better after the HT break, that's why they lost.
