Crowds don't work as a percentage of population. In that case the Victory and Sydney should have 90,000 turn up every week.

20k was a good crowd.

not overly bothered for the people who rocked up to buy tickets and had to queue for ages (as they should have got them earlier), but the beer queues were massive, and instead of having the game on the TVs, they had the golf on. good one

Its the only realistic way to compare two figures in a similar market (ie New Zealand). Sydney & Melbourne you would expect a different population percentage as they are different markets.

By the way, I never said that 20k wasn't a good crowd, but if you are going to compare it to an average of 7500-8000 that the Phoenix regularly pull in Wellington then it's only fair to take population of Auckland into account!

20k = great crowd but would be at the lower end of my expectations for a one off match in a city of over 1 Million people at a stadium that has had improved transport links etc to cope with the RWC.

As mentioned earlier- 20000 was a very good crowd for a club game. Pretty silly to compare crowds against population. How many would you expect for a game in Beijing?

Going by your logic, Christchurch and Dunedin are better supporters than Wellington !

It was a great crowd for a one off game, and Auckland have the record now  -  Get over it

I'm not having a dig at Auckland. Just trying to guage some perspective of the crowd. Thats all.

I did expect at least 20k.

If the season starts well next year and we get a couple of players I think we could crack 25-30k

Auckland will rise once more

... and freakin' Aucklanders are smart enough to pre-buy tickets next time.

And hopefully Eden park will actually open all the bars and food outlets this time. 25 minutes to queue for a beer!!

Was a bit ridiculous, I was in the ground at 4:15 and even that early it took 20mins for a coke and chips!

For what it was, I'd call it a fantastic result. Footpaul asked me after the match to give it a rating out of 10 - I gave 8.5. I'd give higher marks to the Christchurch and Dunedin matches, but I'd call our trip to Eden Park a success. And I'd gladly see the Phoenix return next season, although Hamilton and Christchurch should take priority.

Guoan gets a consistent 40k to their CSL games - not sure about the team(s) in the lower league games.

Remains to be seen if the Nix go there again next season (I would love to go to the new ChCh stadium if that was ready).  But I think you lot "deserve" an AW game soonish.  That would really test your support and organisational abilities (get Super Auckland Council to run it - would be triffic!).
