I think the wheels were well and truly off by the time Ernie had lef and think alot of players were already thinking of leaving. . The club culture certainly diminished during his tenure.

Some really strong words in the post - I wonder if Ernie will actually take legal action?

In any case, that's definitely an interesting perspective and I wonder how it compares with other players who worked under him...

I had to laugh at the "unlimited funds at the Nix" comment though!

The rumors were that Roly and Merrick were on the outer before last season and people were surprised when Roly signed an extension, I think his decision to leave was made before Merrick left. I also know that we don't like believing anything the Phoenix says on here but Dome also said that none of the players that have left were offered a contract so we don't really know about A-Rod or Moss.

It does depend a bit on what "offered a contract" means...

Lowballed? Best way to get rid of a player you don't want. Lowball them and then you can say you offered them a deal and they declined.

Why would he take legal action? Only read it once, but it's just one man's opinion isn't it? Not sure there's anything in there which he could take legal action on? I'm sure there isn't a Coach anywhere in the World, at any level, who hasn't been bad mouthed by at least one player they've worked with in the past. (Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer though, so stand to be corrected on the legal stuff)

Seems unlikely that telling a player they weren't in your plans when they weren't in your plans would be actionable in any universe. Also not a lawyer

I'm guessing NZP meant defamation.

Reputation is something that the law will protect, sort of.

The post seems to have been deleted. I only read it once too but I got the feeling that he crossed the line as opposed to just outlining his opinion.

From memory he accused Ernie of lying, bullying etc and used fairly colorful language. Don't get me wrong, it's 2017 and we are all entitled to an opinion. I just think if Ernie was half the dick Ljubo wants us to believe, he has probably already given his lawyers a friendly call.

He also said that Ernie was spineless. People on another forum have said that Ljubo thinks that the world is out to get him and takes offense where it's not intended.

Defamation would be ridiculous. To win at defamation you have to prove not only that someone said some hurtful things about you, but that it actually damaged your reputation. Ljubo is a known nutter, therefore nothing he says would actually cause Ernie's stocks to drop among anyone who matters (ref. Jerry Falwell v. Hustler magazine). Plus, for all you know all this stuff is common knowledge around the A-League anyway.

I agree that it's not likely anyone will sue anyone over this, but to win at defamation (of a person) you don't have to prove actual reputational harm. It's enough that the words carry a defamatory meaning.

A shame he just sort of slipped out the back door, we didn't get a chance to farewell him.

Those would count if it was known he was leaving at the time but until he signed for Adelaide, the club hadn't even acknowledge that he had left the club. The average fan never got a chance to say goodbye to him.

I'd love to hear him talk more about the signing of the Nix on the pod. Fevercity should approach AU when they're in town about him being a guest.

I always rated him quite a lot - sounds like he is happy playing in the lower divisions in Germany.

Sounds like he's doing exceptionally well, but this was known for a while.

Still one of my all-time favorite Nix and AW players of all times - a workhorse and tireless box to box midfielder.

Vinnie Lia = Wellington's Alessandro di Piero     (comparison not so much in skills level, as in ever playing for just one good club only and then suddenly moving to an Australian mainland club)

Read that from Wardy and then read Liam Hyslop's interview with Andy Hedge and then think to yourself "go you Phoenix for doing it right."

Picky, picky.

One day Del Piero will long be forgotten, but the memory of this strike will last for us forever:

Had a look to see if A-Rod had played any minutes at Boavista yet (he hasn't) and was surprised to see former Nix player Ricardo Clarke is now there also.

That is surprising. Also, he's still only 24. Venezuelan Primera Division to Boavista seems quite a leap. I get the impression his agent likes to keep things interesting.

I liked Ricardo. He certainly had much more to offer than Totori, yet Benji ended up playing lot more. Maybe it was Ricki's way of trying to keep the crowd entertained.
