Please remember COnst's agenda, he hates Ufuk Talay for reasons that haven't been adequately expored.

I'm still gutted Roy made this choice.  I was really keen to see him step up a level.  This is VERY weak football

He is not playing for us, so all I care about is that he is not playing against us.

He would have to receive a good offer from a better league (assuming he would also feel more or less at home there).

I am happy for him to save for his retirement by playing in the Indian League.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I subscribe to the IPL youtube channel...it's very annoying to be getting all of these pre and post-match notifications...I just want to see the highlights!!!

Plus sounds like he's valued the ability to play in and spend some time in the country of his heritage.

Hope he's earning a motza.

'Nix must be looking like a pretty decent pathway option now.  To paychecks and/or opportunities in Sth Africa, India, the US and elsewhere.  Can't be a bad thing.

I am in Auckland for work and the hotel has ESPN.  Managed to see bits of a game with Ibrahimovic and Boxall on the opposing sides of the pitch.  Comes to prove that "you too can be seen on TV around the world if you first play for the Nix" etc.

Furthering his wife's modelling career was also a consideration - more opportunities for her in India.

Roly with 73 mins as Curaçao lose 1-2 to Costa Rica in CONCACAF Nations League.

Curaçao conceded 2nd goal at 84 mins, a draw may have been enough to see them sneak into the semis. Likely semi finalists now CONCACAF big guns - USA, Mexico, Honduras & Costa Rica.

Still promising signs for Curaçao with CONCACAF 2022 World Cup qualifying over next few years.

I see Roly has scored 2 goals from 9 games for Al Faisaly in the desert.

Unlike A League looks like Saudi league stops for FIFA windows.

There is actually another Dutchie (Arabic name) at Al Faisaly, so that probably helps a bit.

Eugenio Pizzuto won the bronze ball at the fifa u17 world cup and was captain of the Mexican team which finished second. He was involved in the nix academy for a few years, it's ashame he didn't stick around.

He would be stuck playing College football if he was still here.

His body must have fully given out. Shame about last season but he was still a good servant to the club and had that one amazing season a few years back that will go down in history!

Dunno if anyone listened to the Fox Football podcast last week but Ali Abbas was interviewed by Simon Hill and it's well worth a listen. Not exactly a phoenix legend but amazing listening to him talk about everything he's gone through growing up and throughout his football career. Doubt many other footballers have had to deal with as much as he has had to

Wow, surprised Mandi didn't get a gig after he left us. I checked and he and Roy have different agents..funny how things pan out in football sometimes.

Mandi or Steinmann?  You can have one in your team but not both.  Which way would you go?  Personally I think we have the better player now

From what I've seen so far I'd say Matti > Mandi

I'd say in this current formation with only two CBs, we need Matti more than Mandi, however I think I liked Mandi a little more. 6 years older though, love when younger imports come to the league

I like Steinmann when he does things well.  He is still prone to do occasional brainfart but he needs time.

Contrary to what some here have said, I do not think imports need to arrive as a "finished product"  - and if Matti stays long enough he will be a much better player after this season.

I agree, he does make a couple of serious mistakes each game, but I find he makes up for it by being very tidy, tireless, winning balls in the air and doing some very good defensive work.

Mandi was similar in that he gave the ball away needlessly, he was probably more creative than Matti but he tired way too early every game.

Speaking of midfielders, any news about Rufer?

Listed in the extended squad but will need to pass late fitness test.

Matti can run out a game which already makes him superior. Mandi was by far the more creative player, and more likely to chip in with a few goals, but positionally wasn't as solid.

I am too lazy to look it up myself, but isn't Mandi a bit older than Steinmann?
