I'm personally just happy to see people like Brown and Reid get involved.
…for picking you up and letting you down.
Only one Michael Owen Timmy lad!
For me ones in the first season. All the goals. Late into the box. Didn’t mind a header. F n Judas.
If Wellnix won’t take the money, the Fever will! We’ve got a good scouting record.
I suspect it's Auckland, because that's where All Birds sole NZ shop is, direct US flights come into Auckland, Foley is an American, All Birds is based Stateside etc etc. Commercial reasons

I doubt Welnix have rubbed anyone the wrong way.
It's because investors feel a sense of security having a major shareholder in 'Big Bill' who has a track record w/ financially successful sports frachises. Happy to have him doing the heavy lifting whilst they ride the coattails. Plus, if you own a business like Brown, or are someone like Reid/Williams, you have a pipeline for your future brand through Foley. Picture 'Allbirds, official leisure foot-ware of Bournemouth'...
The ownership structure of the Nix is far less attractive. You're buying into an investment that requires you to be hands on opposed to watching from afar. More responsibility, more risk, potential power dynamics, you're the 'new kid on the block' at the round table etc.
Mind you, I haven't found much information or data about Welnix unless I want to pay for it. So I have no real idea.
But, at the end of the day, it's down too 'what is going to create value for me?' opposed to the love of the game of things. I desperately hope I'm wrong, but i mean, what does Ali Williams know about football?
AFC is a club born through business, for Foley to add to his large NZ business portfolio. I'd rather belong to a club with the lowest budget in the league than a sell-out mickey mouse cash grab.
Sincerely KP
You dont think Rob and co count as big business? Sure, they are comparatively small to Foley but each of the Welnix board have some impressive credentials.

From a local perspective, they are great, but we have a financially concrete ceiling in NZ as opposed to USA and this chap Bill, which is what my opinion is based upon.
I'm fearful that money will take over passion. I can't wait till Derby Day to show these blokes that money doesn't buy culture.
Impossible
*thanks for the reply :)*

That seems pretty spot on TBH.
The chance to buy in from the start of a sports franchise owned by an obscenely rich foreigner with lots of sports teams under the belt probably means they know even if funds are tight then they may not wind up cap in hand.
Still, I love that our club is owned by Wellington elites. Makes it feel a little more special, even if they have to stretch their dollars sometimes.
Taci Kumsuz sighting for you Wellington Phoenix completists https://t.co/fdx4gdoDib

I thought he was deemed ineligible for NZ? Afaik if you have Cook Island citizenship, you also have NZ citizenship. Maybe something has changed with him in recent seasons.
I'm still a little bit annoyed about the move, but after the solid signings we've made for this season, it has died down significantly compared to when it was initially announced.
And hey, at least it ain't AFC.
Update: Came on just before the 60 minute mark as Adelaide won it 2-1 with an early extra time goal.
Tbf he probably should've realized something was off when they immediately made him captain
This is one of the most interesting individuals I've spoken to in football.

Albert Riera was a paramedic who wanted to stop playing to go backpacking. Then he won 3 Champions Leagues + 2 more as coach. He's up against Hernan Crespo on Sunday. Mad story.https://t.co/6dfaHi17ma

One of our greats. I often think he gets overlooked for how good he was or important he was to the team. I don’t think we’ve had a better DM than him.
