far away Phoenix fans
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Three, I believe,  in Glen Falls,  New York State. They call themselves the Upstate NY Phoenix Fan Club. Mostly driven by Brian. He's managed through the interweb to watch watch several games live. (Get this: Brian had to go a few hours by car to a bar, for a 5am start, to watch NZ play Bahrain.)
Why? He has me as a point of contact and he said I had worn him down with my blather about Phoenix. Secondly, and oddly, Tony Lochead now has better hair than he did at NE Revolution...

One in Bendigo. His name is Brian and I met him in Auckland at the weekend. Started talking A-League and he used the word "we" when talking about Phoenix. It seems he's been a Phoenix fan since match one of the FIRST season.
I asked why and he simply said "why not?".

My brother who lives in Vancouver is a fan. I sent him a shirt early in the season and babbled on about it so much he started following. Having lived in wgtn during his uni years he still can't believe football wd get 10,000 spectators let alone 34000

Didn't you convert some Algerian chap to the Phoenix or at least force him to hold the flag, dairyflat?

I must say, Phoenix are an easy club to fall for.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

When i was in Edinburgh last year i got a few people interested in the Phoenix. Also had a friend who lived in Bahrain for a while so some good 'banter' with the qualifying games.

Last year a German under-graduate from Dresden University came over here for his internship with our company during the winter.  I took him to 2 Nix games, including the 6-0 thrashing of Gold Coast.  He also went to the AW vs Bahrain game.  He thought it was funny how the RoF was 1/2 empty even thought the fans made so much noise.  Also her was amazed at the number of females attending the games, where as back in Germany the crowd is male-dominated.  We bought him a YF t-shirt to take back.  Btw, the Dresden strip are the same colours as the Nix.

My mate in Denmark sort of Follows the nix, when he was over here for an exchange he went to a couple of games, though he went in season 1 so was probably like these guys su*k.

Damn I hate Euro snobs.

Have two mates who support Ipswich (they live just out of Ipswich themselves) and they used to love to talk down about the A-League even though they're Kiwi's but I always talk about the Phoenix when we speak and as results have got better they're finally sitting up and listening.  Most recent conversation involved the concession that: "NZ have come so much farther since we left 6 years ago" - that's the best I'm going to get for a while so I'm taking a rest.

It's also amusing because Ipswich aren't much to sing and dance about themselves.

So they've followed Ipswich since after the 2nd Premier League spell ?

They are in no position to talk, and I'd know.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Since moving there.  I guess that's after the 2nd Prem League spell.

Having lived in Levin before that they probably hadn't heard of them.

Christchurch is permanently going backwards. Fact.

Three for me, and two for them.

Come on, I've had maccas twice in Levin on my way down to Nix games. It's one of few towns between Thames and Wellington I bother to stop in.

Thames, however, is going backwards. Where else has Heritage Week as their biggest annual event?

A few years ago Levin was rated the most boring town in NZ... by the locals.  It made it to one of the 7pm shows on TV.

Levin is one of the few NZ towns where Subway won't let you have a drink refill.

My suggestion for Levins town slogan was

Levin - Just keep on driving

second entry was

Levin - Don't make eye contact

Sadly neither was chosen

Well I drove Wgtn to Hawkes Bay this morning and stopped in Shannon where some serious damage was done to my credit card shopping but on reflection its prob a chick's shopping paradise as was more clothes, jewellery, arts, interior type shops plus good cafes

Definitely Otaki, the centre of the known Universe AND (would you believe) the place with the world's best climate. So on your next sojourn (see we even know big words) make a point of calling in here, and we can have a ball. Or as a lady in San Francisco said to me once, come on over and we'll have both of them.
