So it's Wednesday and nothing on Nix Twitter (possibly cause of sacked tweeter) or their facebook page about this. Will they be surprised when there is no one there to farewell them. Why don't they give people ample warning about these events???

The social media person isn't usually a Phoenix staff member, they just did the game day tweets because all the other staff were busy. It's up to Phoenix staff to post stuff during the week.

Thanking the fans for coming out to support them, telling them when the next game is, where to buy tickets or what sky channel to watch the games on, or even when the team makes appearances in public or at event. Would like to see a bit more interaction with the community.

I think the complaint is that its a fever member (in this case, me) and not the club promoting the event.

Guessing it would be more run by Wellington Airport (due to its location), who are not (As far as I am aware) Wellington Phoenix sponsors.
So perhaps its not up to them to do it. There were WIAL staff at the bottom of the stairs last week handing out flyers though.

I thought this too, but isn't it in their best interest to promote the team wherever possible? As I've said numerous times Twitter and facebook are free so why not use it more to alert fans to these events. It's no good telling people an hour before the event starts. Maybe they have contacted schools near to the airport about it, who knows but their 46k facebook and 4.5k twitter fans are none the wiser.
