With the Gold Coast franchise falling over it means so to has felipe's contract.

Do we try to bring him back?

no. he has been released by the club. if we wanted him, we wouldnt have let him go in the first place.

We did try to sign him but he said no and took the galaxy two year offer. We still need an attacking midfielder.

nah dontneed him back every team knows how to shut him down

He wants more $$ and even though he had signed with the Galaxy (a letter of intent') his agent was still shopping him around.

Bridges burnt.

Of course not. As I posted somewhere else, f**k him.

he had his chance and he blew it

i still think he's a great player to watch, but it seems his attitude and possibly his greed has let him down

I want him back, I reckon one of the main problems was that Felipe or Daneil were playing but normally not at the same time.  The times when both were on the pitch he didn't get targeted as much, and was more effective, plus there was some great interplay between the two.   Well this was the case once we signed our pie eatting Marque.  Stoked he's gone

Hmm i thought Felipe was at his worst when he and Daniel were on the pitch at the same time.

Would love to have him back, but if hes asking for too much $$$, then nothing much we can do.

Allegedly

He wanted too many $$ to fit under the cap so he was released.  No way in the world that will have changed.  Gone.

for all his step overs and fancy foot work, he sure coughed up the ball a lot

Personally I would prefer to see us sign an attacking midfielder who posed more of a goal scoring threat - either himself or by setting up team mates. Having said that if Ricki & co decide we should resign him that's fine with me. I enjoyed watching him play and have no doubt he gave his best for the team and wore the shirt with pride. He is a professional footballer who has a short number of years to financially set himself up - if he left to make more $s who can blame him. The acid test for me is was he a Nix man through and through when he played for us and did he leave with dignity. I think Filipe passes with flying colours. We should be bigger than automatically treating all ex Nix players as outcasts. Elrich, of course, fails the acid test miserably
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

i agree he was a crowd favourite, i too enjoyed watching him play and if he came back, great, but not this season, maybe a few seasons down the track.

i still think though he gave the ball up a bit unecessarily at times

agree re his attitude once he took the field - i never saw him come off without having done his best, sometimes he could hardly walk at the end of a match -he covered some grass and took some knocks

his decision making (re passing early or not accepting a decent wage offer) may have been questionable but i don't think he deserves too much crap from us if we do meet him in 2008/9

Felipe wouldn't play with any conviction for us now. He played like for half of the season as it was I thought. Not sure what happened to him, but his heart wasn't in it those last few games.

Gone. Remembered for the goal v Sydney.

Next please.

I thought his ethic of the field was poor at times- one game I can remeber the zone chanting to him and he took ages to acknowlege the fans.

Sorry Felipe. you have had your chance, you left for greener grass and that's a one way trip. Wish you well, (except for when/if you play against us).

I reckon it's over. If the Nix took him back, regardless of how good a player he might be, it would have bad ripercussion on the club. Think about the other players, think about the media. We would look like a Puppets' team.

I think he'll sign a one-year deal somewhere - in OZ , or South America or Korea for that matter, so that he can get some game time and will join the Galaxy next year. Unless he's so greedy to stay at the club where he'll play next season (if they pay him enough) and screw the 'letter of intent'.

I reckon he wasnt fit enough for week to week a-league. He was a passenger for us mostly in the 2nd half of games.

He was never quite the same after the kicking he got at Queensland

We had a few passages in the second half of most matchs, especially when the opposition only had 10. Several players could not last 90 minutes, more so in second half of the season. Pre-season we killed teams for fitness - hope we can do it for the complete season this time.

It seemed we had to rush our pre-season conditioning (due to late start-up) consequently we appeared to lack stamina as the season went on (covs was put on a lighter training load in about early december from memory and that helped him)

with a full pre-season and the new medical/fitness staff we should do better this time round

Phoenix not interested in re-signing Felipe3/13/2008 8:28 AM

Former Phoenix midfielder Felipe is available again, but the Wellington club is not interested in having him back

The Wellington Phoenix has ruled out bringing back Brazilian midfielder Felipe to the capital.

Felipe was released last month after he failed to agree terms with the Phoenix and was subsequently signed with the Gold Coast Galaxy. However, with the A-League expansion delayed by a year Felipe is now back on the market.

A source close to the Phoenix says they no longer have an interest in signing the attacking midfielder.

Lads, I think we need to be realistic when we accuse Felipe of being greedy.  Tell me if any of you were offered another job for more money tomorrow that you wouldnt take it.  Hes been with us for 9 months, he doesnt owe us anything just like we dont owe him anything.  Just because its sport we think that there is some kind of special loyalty required, but when its your job its just the same as any other profession

Its not as if he signed for Newcastle or something.

Don't think many of us are accusing him of being greedy or disloyal, just that he made the decision to go and he's burned his bridges as a result. It's not our problem that he signed for a team who, from an A League point of view, don't actually exist!! I wish him all the best, and liked him as a player, but the bottom line is that he's now history and we should all move on.

I agree JD. We owe him nothing, he owes us nothing. He moved on, and can't expect to be welcomed back because he made a decision that no longer suits him. We don't have to stoop that low. Yes, it's a two-way street.

Agree with those sentiments Jag, its just the greedy calls have been regularly been bandied about in discussions in this and other threads about Felipe.  Hes really blown it though hasnt he??!!

Makes me think it must be bloody hard having non-england speakers in your team. Very dificult. Prob part of the reason Clebo and George got cut (apart from being crap). You say something and get a smile and nod of recognition back, but really they dont have a scoobie what you just said.

plenty of players have been in this situation before, looking for a better deal for themselves. if it ends up that Felipe is the best alternative we have for an attacking midfielder, I would be perfectly happy for the club to re-sign him. It doesn't mean he wouldn't play his best for us, I am certain he would.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet
