Hi all.

Im a new member to the yellow fever, I moved over to new zealand from scotland in June 07 and since I came over and heard about the phoenix back in July I have been following them and have made them my new team!!

What i wanted to say watching the last few games i have noticed daniel and felipe are linking up well together and i think both are quality players, felipe is a standout and plays awesome footie, I think the team in general are playing well and you can see it coming together, its just a matter of time before we are winning games on a regular basis.

I was wondering if anyone else thought the same about daniel and felipe.

Also does anyone know if cleberson is out injured? he played the first 2 or 3 games, dont know where he has went to!

Your right about Felipe and Daniel, and about Phoenix, it will only be a matter of time before they start to get a winning streak. I believe the other defenders are keeping Clebersen pout of the team, they have been doing a tremendous job at the back and will prob keep same team against the Glory on Sunday.
P.S Welcome to New Zealand mate, hope ya enjoying the good life, i know i am!!

mmhm, altho wouldnt mind seeing the pairing become a trio for a game adding george to creat a 4-2-3-1 with daniel, felipe and george behind smeltz, with alosi and brown/johnson, altho the impending introduction of elrich may stop that from ever happening

I like it when there's a deadball and then Felipe and Daniel go into a huddle to discuss tactics; nothing has happened so far, but something will come of it.
As for Clebo, I found him very entertaining to watch and a committed player in the games he played, but maybe he's been found to a bit un-disciplined  (he's yet to kiss the ref in NZ) - if he can get his Englsih a bit more up to scratch he may start playing more with the team than as a good individual player.

I wonder what has happened to the Cleberson that played in the first pre season game against Sydney .I think there were many of us who left the ground that day thinking he looked the goods to become a fixture in the defence.

At the Adelaide game something came out of one of those. Daniel ran over the ball, and Felipe looked like he was about to dribble it (passed it to Daniel). Didn't get anything out of it, but it looked cool.

I agree Daniel  and Felipe are looking the business and working well together.  A problem with this though is every team in the league will also have noticed and will target the two of them, plus Daniel's lack of speed especially as the game wears on is a bit of a worry.

Enter stage left, Ahmad Elrich, this should really stir things up.
Enter stage right, George, his few touches last week were nice and accurate

Cleberson, he kept committing the crime of kicking the ball out, even Rugby fullbacks don't do that anymore.

Clebo cant speak the England. Not so bad for a greedy striker - but not so great for a centreback

How many of the squad will be ta-ta's when the WC Quals are on?

Will we have a reasonable squad still? Who's gonna be in goal?

Maybe they could put Clebo in goal when the other two are away?... I'm sure Daniel & Felipe can say stop the Far King ball at all costs in Portugese...

Doubt very much that any of our samba lads will make the Brazilian fifth team so wouldn't lose sleep on it !

lmfao!!!

I was thinking more of the Kiwi's lol...

Though they were crapping on about Daniel on Total Football over here a while back (and no, Slater wasn't on the panel at the time) saying that he played a full international way back when... Romario must have been at the hairdressers I reckon... is this true? Or just the usual over-hype we get here?

He was in the paper saying he might want to play for the All Whites. So I doubt it.

well, i guess he will eventually get game time cos players inevitably get injured, suspended, called up for international duty, the flu, chicken pox, the mumps

Rumour has it he came on as a sub against Saudi Arabia in 02/03. Can't find much info on it though. Played numerous matches for Brazil -18's too apparently.

If everyone got a 'chance' we would be changing our team drastically every week. It aint Under 10's.

His brother reckons that was someone making up stuff in Wikipedia and he's never played for Brazil at any age.

Yeah I found reference to it on another couple of pages too (after all the lecturers bitch about it I've learnt you can find answers from other sources, not just wiki...) but none of it was really hard evidence- so I'd agree in that he probably hasn't. So hes got a brother, any chance of signing him for next season?

It's called training and it goes on every day.  It's attended by this guy called Ricki Herbert, thankfully he's the one picking the team...

Clebo's English is as good as, if not better than, Daniel or Felipe's.  Infact, I think I heard on here that he was translating for George and Felipe during pre-season.

Too old to break into the squad now or in the future.  Top player but the standard for the Brasilian national side is rediculously high - especially for attacking midfield.

Too right...and he'd be competing with the likes of Ronaldinho and Kaka for a spot on the team, both of whom are younger than Felipe by the way.el grapadura2007-09-27 21:00:21

There's been talk of this, apparently Daniel has indicated he might want to play for NZ. I think it's a far way off at this stage though.

Lord knows how many million young players there are kicking a ball around in Brazil, must be a chance to entice a few more of them to come down here for a bit of OE and football.

i think the A-league football is just as good as any other league in the world, its better than the SPL anyways (scottish premier league)

definitely, it would benefit football here hugely. Cleberson speaks good english, i spoke to him at the backbencher, also in portuguese, George is having weekly lessons at the mo...but spoke to him yesterday only in port, he is very shy to use his english.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.
