I know you don't like to copy other supporter groups but I like the "Stand up if you love the Toon" followed by "Sit down if you love the Toon".

Re: Who are ya?
- Can someone explain what the background to this is (is there even is one?)

And I explained the "We're here to watch the football" to my group (it was one of the more muted chants - as was "where were you when we were sh*t)

It's a british chant from what I know. It's always been around for us, I remember an early post I made about shouting "who are ya?" to my cat.

Season 1 I recall us doing a "who are ya" to an opposition player being sent off, it went on for ages as he had to walk from the other side of the pitch to the tunnel and we kept it up the whole length of his journey. He looked destroyed. It was one of those moments that showed the YF as being something else. Can't remember the match or the player though.

Jets
Topor-Stanley or Griffiths or both

Yeah Griffiths got red carded last season. The most passionate who are ya? I've been a part of. Milligan got sent off that day as well

Best chant of the night "Where were you when we were sh*t??"

That annoys me a wee bit and smacks of snobbery. Who can blame people for not turning up when a team is sh*t? It is up to the club to provide the reason for people to turn up and watch. While its good that some of us turn up/support the club through thick and thin, not everyone does that or should feel obliged to do that. I think you are displaying a juvenile attitude to this and should be happy that people are now supporting the club even if it is because they are finally performing above expectations.

Suggestions:
The Crowd
I thought the Mexican wave was in celebration of our recent football relationship and the fact that it is now 40 years since some guy with a wide brimmed hat started one at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico (Bobby Moore did not steal the necklace). Limit it to one or two circuits then get over it.
Great bit of initiative from the YF to encourage those in the opposite corner of the southern end to give the "WHO R YA. It caught on and spread. It is amazing how one person can get things going if people dont think they will be the only one. Scouser has been drumming it up in block 24/25 all season.
Stand Up. God knows how we can get this sung right, but when we do, again it should be limited to once each half. Dont know whether it was blk 24 starting it up but we were up and down like whores draws yesterday.
The Stadium
Down to warm beer and no water by halftime. Get to know the crowds drinking capacity and  cater for it.
Allow for walk up crowds 20 minutes before KO
The Phoenix
Tell FFA that we have our own music and would like to use it
Arrange with Ticketek that season ticket holders can keep their existing seating arrangements during the members only purchase period for playoffs
If it cant be done this year, plan for next that, a specially priced season ticket becomes available for one month immediately after the last home game to pick up on euphoria.
Otherwise fine  (Tim Finn)

True but an interesting point for next season. I hope a lot of those fans attending the last two games do decide to come back. I'd love to see our regular crowd be around 14k or more. Obviously out of towners can't make every game, but locals could.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

yep, aisle 36 i believe. The one they tried to start during extra time died a very quick and embarrassing death. It helped that most of us in aisle 33 refused to carry it on.
That explains it then. Those were the very last tickets to be sold.

Junior Hotspur!!!! Why didn't you just call him Felicity and finish off any chance he
had of growing up with any self esteem.

At least Junior Hammer was given a choice. He just didn't want to go flatting when he was two!

He was probably standing on the seats and doing more wilful damage to the Stadium.

We've got the makings of a plague of mayflies.

Nix have a great end of season run and creating huge awareness (on top of 14 Nov).

World Cup to come in June

Late July(?) start of the new A-League season

If we can't get a good crowd, boosted membership and new sponsorship then we really are a bunch of knitters.

Water was gone within the first 20. Had to get the young 'un something before he melted. Not only that when I incredulously asked if they knew it was a sellout crowd I got verbally abused by the woman serving me for my trouble. She wasn't looking quite so staunch though when I took her name and promised to let her employer know how helpful she had been.

Oh, and before anyone works it out, yes I apologise for the Jets goal since they scored when I had left my seat. It won't happen again.

Have to say I am immensely proud of the junior. Not his first Nix game but his first time in the zone and while he did struggle with the heat in the first half and needed a bit of a rest in the second he got his second wind and was still standing on his seat and chanting with the rest of us all through extra time (couldn't convince him to take his shirt off though).

Yeah the staff they have working for them are sh*t,needs sorting. Cant believe they ran out of water,it significantly contributed to my heatstroke i think. Especially since they wont exactly let you bring anything in with you,the least they can do is,you know, not run out of it.

I must have admit to have been very annoyed by a load of people standing 2-3 deep in the Yellow Fever zone (in a single aisle). It really was ridiculous.

If you're here and reading- you're a shower of selfish self-absorbed c**ts. Next time, buy your tickets early. Don't see why the two girls to your left should have been squished down to one seat's space, and you did make made it pretty hard for the people behind you to see and/or hear anything.

That's how the zone has worked since day 1.

If you're in someone's seat and they want it move on but otherwise we pack 'em in.

I felt sorry for the lass behind me who turned up in a Toon away strip (custard yellow stripes alternating with puss yellow stripes).

She said it was the only yellow she had and her brother had sent it over from Geordieland.  Best use of the away strip I can think of.

She and her mates were full into the chanting and singing so big ups there.

Yep, me and News and a bunch of the Fever regulars got moved on and we grumbled a bit but took it on the chin (chins in News's case).

Where we did end up we were two deep.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

If you want better staduim staff, petition them to stop using Spotless Services.  Or petition them to pay them something approaching decent.

The stalls with volunteer groups are always much better, because they want to be there.

Yeah.  It's a lot harder when the stadium, and in particularly the zone is packed.  We ended up with the normal core well spread out and a lot of people in the zone who don't know the words and some who weren't all that keen on getting involved.

It's the price you pay for fame.  Needs an elite fighting force in Sydney next week.

There is much angst about the same thing in Sydney last night as well.  We're a bit more 'meh' about it.

Happened during the final a few weeks before that as well. Atmosphere and chants were starting from other directions, not just the Yellow Fever Zone...

Good indication of a thriving football scene developing in Wellington.

Don't forget what Wgtn brings to the Nix. In that article they state "A lot of it is about a team that is very representative of the way Wellington is and the way Wellingtonians love to get behind it."

I'm a very proud Wellingtonian and also exceedingly social. In the past month I've been to Arts Fest stuff, Fringe Fest stuff, 2x footy games, 3x raves, & a cpl of band gigs and are about to head of to a circus fest ecent. Wgtn is the uber city of things to do and there are many like me who started out supporting the Nix simply because we like to sample what Wgtn has to offer and support all kinds of things simply so they stay on offer

The merch store was closed at extra time and a flag was wanted by a child.  I missed some of the game to discover this.
Also two hand clappers were up on the wall at half-time and we were told they were sold out. Surely one of the clappers on the wall could have been handed  over.   Scarves were up on the wall before the game but not up when the hand clapper was wanted.
