Some general thoughts about the crowd today:

- Were there a lot of non-YF people in the Zone?
I proudly took my YF Finals tee off when we took the lead but was it just me or were there heaps of people in the zone that didn't follow tradition? I hope I made up for my failure vs. Bahrain with today's baring of skin

- One guy tried to stand up in Aisle 24 and got kicked out.
Fair enough but seemed to have a lot of golf clappers in A24. I carried chants as best I could and am proud of my newbie group of attendees that got right into it (and took their shirts off too

- Who was in the other corner of the ground near Aisle 1?
Impressive chanting going on there!

- A friend was not impressed with the Fever boo-ing the visitors
Self explanatory

- Thanks Newcastle for applauding US!
Awesome.

these people who complain at home supporters booing away teams have obviously never been to a football game before in their lives and need to STFU and join in tbh. Peace.

Any comments on the abundance of clothing in the Zone?

Zone tonight was chock full of newbies there for the first time.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Anyone seeing the gooner at the end of the concourse with the sign offering to pay for the tickets he was given at the start of the match?

I don't know about you guys. But I wanted to throw some bottles and have a few dust ups.
What will the Dominion have to write about us now?

since we're talking about the general crowd, i will say that there were a group of older gentlemen sitting next to us younger lads, who had flown down from auckland just to see the game... they loved it and really got into it. one said he was at a rugby game last week up north, which just didnt compare to the Nix and the ROF. Awesome.

Effort of the day award goes to Wilso who at Manners MacDonald was greeted by Ben Kennedy, Ali Abbass and what we suspect was the Melbourne reserve keeper.

Wilso, buys them each a soft serve cone and says 'I notice you skipped dessert lads, so have these on us for knocking Gold Coast out.  Thank you all, but especially you' as he he handed Kennedy his.

Credit to the Newcastle lads for taking it with good grace and all those in Maccas who applauded them for it.

@Cboz - LOL how much of the game did you miss??

So that doesn't happen a lot/ever then? I thought it as incredible, and 2 big thumbs up for the Jest applauding the crowd. That was farkin sporting (and one of the great things in sport).

Re: Shirts off - were the usual number of shirts off but just scattered around the ground? I felt a bit lonely being one of only a few that got my kit off but managed to get 5/6 newbie males to get their shirts off (although 1 needed a bit of extra coaxing and another only agreed to taking it off with "10 to go" ie. the 110th minute )

[quote]8. The Fever Zone tradition is that shirts are removed with ten minutes to go, if the Phoenix are leading.  They will also be removed if the Phoenix go in front during the last ten minutes.  We will not discuss what happens if the score is reversed as that may curse it.  People of delicate disposition may need to take this in to consideration.

Yes I can see now on reflection that it is a little ambigious.

Personally I reached for my shirt as soon as Ifill had scored and missed seeing the celebrations lol

Haven't seen it much during the season - that's different from knock-out finals football., when points are up for grabs and we'll see the opposition three times over the league.

How about the Pre Pre-Season cup game at a Freezing Cold Hutt Rec against a Welly side.  Lee the Korean from Auckland City at right back, and rumours were they had to drag Daniel kicking and screaming from the Radiator in the changing rooms.

Lady in crowd behind me rudely told my younger brother off. Not for getting in the way, or swearing, but for kissing his girlfriend on the cheek. We laughed so much but she was really angry and saying that they shouldn't be doing that sort of stuff.

And he's 16 lol. We laughed so so much

Why doesn't Daniel start for the 'Nix? I think we had Daniel's number 1 supporter in front of us today.

And you hardcore 'Nix fans are awesom. I'll readily admit I'm just a fair weather (although out-of-town) supporter.

Sorry, wasn't meant to sound like a pissing contest, more asking if anyone else remembered it.

[QUOTE=scoop]Best chant of the night "Where were you when we were sh*t??"

My challenge with that was that in the period in the first half when that chant came out, we were still sh*t.

By the way Hard News, and the rest of YF team.

I'm sounding like a well and truly cracked record but once again my deepest gratitude for your parts in yet another amazing occasion at the Ring of Fire. Much of your work is unseen but it is definintely never far from my mind on these two wonderful remember-for-life occasions.

Cheers.

I would have thought bloody hot = all the more reason to strip down to no layers? Anyway our group honoured the tradition from Aisle 24 and the result was ALL GOOD.

I was keen as beans to see Fever zone in full Yellow Swirl but sadly no.

Awseome - how many sports forums refer to Kurosawa?!?!

Oddly enough I found last nights crowd a bit more muted than the Perth game, not exactly sure why
Still been excellent after three seasons to see the team get thier dues and the Cake Tin almost completely full

Only Niggle  THE MUSIC?!?!?!?! Where was Phoenix City???? Can we please ditch that damned awful anthem

So pleased I have something to complain about

A big thanks to Yellow Fever. This website, the overall unofficial promotion and marketing work you do and Blocks 21 - 22.
Admittedly we do have a fine sponsor, good admin and a great selection of players, but three years on, would they all still be here if there wasn't a Yellow Fever.

Pat yourselves on the back. You are the difference

Big ups to the YF for getting the crowd chanting, although where we were, isle 32, we couldn't always hear the words LOL! But we got in to it anyway haha. Crowd where we were were good, getting in to the game and shouting 'who are ya?' when Newcastle got corners down our end. Overall, AWESOME time yesterday!
