Given the success and fun of fever friday, I reckon the one item that has to be packed for the upcoming holidays is your retro-Ricki

this has to be the best way to spread the Phoenix's fame far and wide this summer

and a great chance to start up a football conversation with fellow Phoenix fans in far away places (like Timaru or Pokeno)

give it a go , I reckon!!

and expect a friendly "who are ya?" while you're waiting for your fish n chips, or popping the top of a stubbie

I'm going to be in Mt Maunganui for new years and I'll wear my Ricki it there, then I'm going on a cruise in the Pacific. I'll where it then aswell.

You know that a 2nd one means you never have to wear any other shirt all holiday.

If I ever get around to buying a ticket I'll be Retro-Ricki-ing at the Big Day Out.

I'm going on two church camps in the North Island and I am definitely bringing my retro-ricki with me.

Hopefully I'll find other people with retro-ricki's so I can start Phoenix conversations with them.loyalgunner2007-12-10 22:52:33

not me , but i guess some poor souls might be, and I'm sure a football conversation would help make it bearable

I wear my Ricki Retro in Perth  with great pride, It caught the eye of Tony P when the Phoenix were over here.He called me over to talk and introduced me to both Herbert and Terry. It was a honor to be able to thank the person who created a football team and saved Football in NZ from disappearing into the wilderness.

I reckon that's the best Retro Ricki story so far this year!

and unless someone gets asked"what's all the fuss about?" by Elvis,  then it'll take a bit of topping

Impressive Tinmen. I hope they asked if they could have their photo taken with you. Support from so far away deserves some recognition.

No they didn't but Tim Brown gave me two tickets to the game.
Johnson and Old introduced themselves to me, the others that were having their breakfast kept to themselves.
Though the meeting only lasted about 15 mintues it is something I will remeber for a long time.
Tim Brown did sign his autograph for my daugther she was rapt for that to happen.
It was a fantastic game as it was the first time that a kiwi side had won in Perth, the funny thing was Ricki said that would win.
There was one guy in a Phoenix top, hat and scarf sitting by himself and a group that had travelled from Wellington to watch the game. They were very entertaining.
I do wear the Retro Ricki T Shirt with great pride and I'm very proud  to be a supporter of the Wellington Phoenix.
If I'm not working on the Saturday I go onto the net and listen to the Phoenix hour, I have tried to ring them but unfortunately the connection goes through to Auckland and they tell me that they can't transfer the call??
So to all you members of the YF thanks heaps for keeping me posted with all th the Phoenix information. One day I will get back home and watch a game at the ring of fire.

Might see the two of you there myself - I'm spending xmas with my family in Papamoa.

Perhaps we should all get together on the 30th to watch the away match at Newcastle, along with anyone else around at the time? Watching it at home on my parents telly isn't the same without other Feverites to cheer and swear with

Mate, thats a awesome idea. My cousins have a beach house in Papamoa, so I can stay there.

I'm staying in the hotel on the corner next to the hot pools, the one under the twin towers.

Sounds like a plan.

The wife has rellies in Napier so it'll be a few days in the heat for me. hopefully catch up with Chaz Davis at Port Hills for a few cold ones too! He's got me hooked on Lager & Lime!

I'm trying to convert the rellies - my parents xmas gifts both came from the club store

I'll have to work on my Italian if we meet up there - Sto imperando l'italiano, non parlo molto.

Theres a nice Pizza bar, which is 10 seconds from my hotel, Dad knows the owners so we could maybe get them to put it on there.

Would that be Usual Suspects? (that was always "the bar that serves good pizza" when I last lived there) I know a bartender there - us and our connections eh? If it's the one, I can drop her a txt or something

Mount Mellick might put the game on for you. They did for us over Labour weekend (not quite as busy, I know), but we had to compete with the DJ downstairs on the saturday night.

Maunganui road, should be somewhat close to your hotel.

I'll make a thread closer to the time along the lines of "Fever at the Mount" or something, we can sort it out then and grab contact details etc
