Coverage of the FFA Cup on SKY:

SS3 – 1/08

2130-2330 FFA Cup: Heidelberg United v Perth Glory LIVE

SPU1 – 2/08

2130-2330 FFA Cup: Blacktown City v Central Coast Mariners LIVE

No Phoenix though? lolz.

Is the game actually being filmed, like properly filmed though?

Yes, it's being broadcast by Fox on their digital platforms.

Sky have shown that broadcast on a popup before and it was good coverage (ignore the fact we lost 5-1 to City please)

To be fair...Being an employee of Sky, the idea of filming something for the purpose of broadcasting it on a digital platform is probably a foreign concept to Chopah :) <3

i remember that, I think we actually had quite a few complaints about the quality of the broadcast - just can't win sometimes.

I will ask at work tomorrow to see if they can do it again, won't hold my breath.

Much appreciated. Even a Sky Go only broadcast is better than nothing, that'll mitigate quality complaints somewhat.

Cheers Chopah :)

So either we'll try getting them on the counter attack or we play for penalties.

I think we will be playing 4 penalties if that. This is our 2nd pre season game so not expecting much, however I still hope we can win and make it to the last 16!!.

Based on the Wests game and the quotes about focusing on defensive shape, I think it will be a pretty hard watch from a Phoenix perspective.

So do we know if Foxsport will be geolocked?

It's not exactly surprising that we are focussing on our defensive shape when we haven't yet signed the player we will be basing our attack around. I say that with a bit of hope

And we've been so crap at the back, time to learn to defend before we can walk...

It wasn't going to be but that was before Sky TV decided to show the game. So no idea if that plan has changed.

We weren't that bad at the back last year, especially when Rossi played.

Yeah but we scored enough goals to be competitive so still think it was our defence that let us down

I really thought that our issue was up front for most of the season and our defence was surprisingly OK (held together by Rossi), especially to the season before. Stats may not tell that story as we dropped off badly in the end.

Either way, it's a new season and a new coach so I'm glad to hear defensive shape is the priority to start with as everyone knows you won't go far with an average defence. I think most managers start there anyway tbf

We were 6th for goals scored and 6th equal for goals conceded. One team which finished above us scored less than us and two teams which finished above us conceded more than us.

I'd say we were equally shark/good at both ends.

Middlesbrough found that having a mid table defence record didn't work when you cant score enough goals.  Nix need striker(s).

As stated earlier, we haven't yet signed the player we are (hopefully) going to build our attack around.
