FFA Cup - R1 vs Adelaide | 5 Aug | Marden Sports Complex | 10pm

Only realised playing for stupid All Stars rules them out of this.

Surely they could just do both? Seems unfair to me that our chances of progressing in the cup are diminished due to some friendly match a few days later.

Sack the FFA!

Boxall was playing as a defensive mid against Newcastle. Not sure I agree with that but I think that is what we will go with.

Look more closely - Adelaide's chances are lessened as well, as they are without their coach and at least 2 players.

Yes I agree, the further we go the better. A smaller A-League club like us should definately try and win this.

It would raise the profile, bring media attention and it's a trophy in the bag. Something to celebrate.

However, it will take some time (years) before the general public in NZ even get to know that there even is an FFA cup now, let alone what it's all about.

But I'm sure over the years that'll all grow

Isn't on TV in NZ or Aussie. Twitter coverage is the only way of following the game sadly.

In terms of A-League opposition we've probably got the best draw. Theyre also fresh from a spanking to Malaga, and we're still on the high from doing well on the FU Tour.

None of tomorrows games are being broadcast, they were only showing 1 of the this rounds games and that was last week.

How does the FFA think its going to promote the Cup if its games are not being televised anywhere.  The Chatham Cup has history and is very well known.  This baby is still but weeks old, surely the FFA should be doing all it can to nurture it and raise its profile.

Anyway... What happens if we win the thing?  The other clubs qualify for Asia right, but we are still ruled out is that correct?

I'd love us to win this, the League and the Grand Final and really put it up the FFA/AFC and I think we have a squad capable of doing it too as long as Brocks and co up front score and Reira stays fit.

And then Steve-O might finally smile.

Three for me, and two for them.

We should want to win this.  Not easy because of the fixed draw, but would be great for some positive vibes

At this stage, I don't think the winner qualifies for the ACL. Aussies spots will still be allocated based on the A-League season & finals.

What time is kick off?

Tuesday, 5 August 2014
Adelaide United v Wellington Phoenix
Marden Sports Complex, Marden (SA)
Kick-off:
7.30pm local (8:00pm AEST)
Referee: Shaun Evans

So that is 10pm NZ time? The Out Of Our A-League boys are planning to be at the game, I would expect them to provide a rather colourful coverage of the game.

Isn't great how the FFA are fully endorsing and encouraging their new flagship? I mean even if they took a hit and halved the price of coverage to a network just to get it exposed. One would think that they would use any positive avenue to get the game out there...but no, you cant do that. TBH, I'd enjoy watching some no name club side take on any A League side. But this is appearing like another loaded gun aimed at one's foot type scenario.

Hmmm, we have a few issues for this game. Rodriguez is under an injury cloud and may not play while Burns' international clearance hadn't come through as of last night although Ernie is optimistic it will.

From memory the FFA earmarked a potential extra ACL spot (or maybe .5 spot) to the winner.

So disappointed this isn't televised, not even with delayed coverage. Terrible advertisement for the game

Let's hope it's not another 'pre season cup' scenario where the format changes from year to year and then eventually end's up thrown on the scrap heap.

Anywhoo, COYN! 2-0, Brockie and Boyd to score
