2-0, but the match report says 2-1.
Weird!

wierd, Total football show reckons that Tony P confirmed 2-1
perhaps the ref blew for a pen - then played advantage, which surely can't be done once the ref has blown
i'll take the goal for goal diff later in the season, but i'd rather have ref who knew the rules and applied them
actually i'd almost rather not have the goal -the whole thing appears at this stage like a kids park game, were the kids who argue the loudest on they way home for tea get an extra goal
perhaps it'll make more sense in the morning
a strange weekend for football

This is ridiculous. This report on Stuff says the score was
2-1
...but the last line of the report says...
"The final act of the match summed it up for the Phoenix who
finally found the net from a messy goalmouth scramble, but Williams
disallowed it, ruling he'd already blown the fulltime whistle.

Sorry, already posted this on another thread, but the commentators
at the CCM v Roar game said that the goal was officially allowed.
Or don't they have a clue either!?

lets just call it 2 - 2 and see if they notice
Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I have just recieved two releases in the last 10 minutes from the
Phoenix media manager - the first said 2-0; the second was an
amended version and said 2-1, so that suggests almost definitely
that it was 2-1.

Aren't they obliged to restart after a goal though ?

Pretty sure they they don't have to re-start if the time's up, but our refs may correct me on this if I'm wrong.

Goodness me !! is there any more good news out there??

The final whistle definitely went before the ball went in, and when
the Phoenix players were arguing with the ref he held up two hands,
one hand had two fingers held up and the other had no fingers held
up, so I think the ref will be quite suprised aswell.

The AB's game just went to the IRB and we have been awarded the win.

Quickly cash in your bet if you picked 2-0. See these random

It seems that 2-1 is the official score, that's what's posted on
the A-league website right now.

But I bet 5 million on a 2-0 Jets win!

Correct you don't. However....
Team A (lets say Liverpool) vs Team B (Man U is convenient) are playing in a trophy final (is FA Cup ok?) Scores tied 1-1 and the 4th official shows on his board 3 minutes to go/time added on what ever.
Liverpool score to make it 2-1 and play has continued 3mins 20secs over the 90mins running time. The referee blows for the goal (which referees no longer are supposed to do on obvious goals) and 2 seconds later blows for full time.
What do you think would happen next? Can you say rioting????
As referee is sole judge of time and the 3 mins is a minimum indication only, not a definitive one, to save your backside, let play restart and on maybe the 2nd touch, blow it up.
I thought the time the 4th official held up was the maximum, not
minimum.

No, the time shown on the board has to be the minimum extra time
allowed.
Any injury time or time wasted during those extra minutes will
add further to the extra time. This is at the sole discretion of
the ref.
Thats why its a stupid system this "holding the extra time up
on the board" nonsense. The game should be timed in play like
Basketball or even Rugby these days, then everyone knows where they
stand.
I cannot believe that this Phoenix goal has now been awarded -
it seemed clear to me watching last night that it had NOT been
awarded. If a goal was scored surely, for clarity, as a ref you
would allow the players to celebrate the goal and run back to the
half way line before blowing for full time. So it seems clear to me
that the ref had NOT given the goal when the players walked
off - it certainly seemed that way from the reaction of the
players.
Simply unbelievable.

So, if our lads sneak back on to the EnergyAustralia stadium
tomorrow and smack the ball into the net at the right end, does
that mean we get a point? Hell, we could do it twice and get all
three...

Wouldn't work. Williams would still find a way to f**k it up

Absolutely pathetic ref.
People, players, commentators and everyone should no when a goal is scored.
Hopefully that bald grub will get suspeneded for the elbow on George, since it was not "dealt" with in the game.
