Can someone much smarter and fair less lazy outline the finals equation for us?

Are we still in command of our own destiny or are we heavily reliant on a) a higher power or b) opposition results going our way?

if it's option a) i'm happy to pray more if its option b) do we need to loan Marco out to all the teams we need to win on a 3-4 day contract at a time to ensure victory?

Easy. If/when we win all our remaining matches we should make the top 6!

well, 4 out of our last 6 games are beatable. I think we can get at least 9 or 10 points!

Wouldn't worry too much about anyone on here trying to rip into that, it's a very good look at the games remaining!

I would say that 40 points is the minimum and, much like the EPL 42 would be the magic number, any team reaching that would (nearly) be guaranteed a place. Looking at the form table I would say that a result at Adelaide seems very plausible (despite our usual form against them). I suppose what we want is 3 from 3 at home, and 2 draws or a win from our 3 away games.

The away form is most worrying, I'd say 2 draws is more likely than 1 win, I wouldn't be disappointed if we absolutely park the bus for the remaining 3 away games (something you would think Ricki would be adept at) if it means we get them.

I was driving to work thinking exactly what you have come up with, hoping that there was someone out there that had the patience to work it out.
Good on you.
We have to win the home games and I'm sure we will. It will be the 3 away sides that will be the problem. I know Sydney have not been playing well, but on their day at home they will be very hard to beat.

Good work SB.

Does anyone have a recollection for our table position progress as we made our run in last season? From memory making the top 6 was still a bit up in the air even close to the end (and making 4th was only secure with a couple of games to go or some such).

Here's a graph I made (according to my computer) 13th Feb 2010, shows a quite dramatic upturn in form in the last 7 or so games, including leapfrogging from 6th to 4th in the last 3

cool GF - looks like a similar upturn is now required at this point in 2011

Except this time, unless GCU have a really bad run into the finals, we wont make fourth.

If we do make it, i would probably prefer to play GCU unless of coarse we are away. think we stand best chance against GCU away

I think the most we'll get is 9 points to be honest.

My predicition would be 2 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses. If we don't win tomorrow, it's a very tough ask.

Good break down, simple enough to follow but comprehensive. Diego's been struggling with niggly injuries for a while now.
You know we belong together...

cheers LF1 and SB

not sure if that's calmed me down but it has helped untangle some of the mad ramblings of my fevered mind

..... i think we'll just do it.... but as you say LF1 there'll be a few twist to come

Whatever happens at Brisbane, a win next week v Jetss puts us right in there.

So lets all focus on getting a big crowd there using $5 tickets and make sure it happens

Tora! Tora! Tora!

Where:

Tora = a code for achieving the element of surprise but can also be a proxy for attack.

! = a very large number of goals scored against the opposition
