Finance the Fever

Kia ora whānau

Since 2007, Yellow Fever have provided a platform for football fans (and relatives of aspiring players) to talk all things football. We’ve expanded our media empire, firstly with In The Zone podcast, and then with the officially slightly more successful, Phoenix City, and now with Fever FM.

Unfortunately, both the website and the podcast incur ongoing running costs.

We’ve done our best over the years to self-fund these through merchandise sales and online advertising. Mostly this has worked well, but there have been times where there has been a shortfall which we have covered out of our own pockets.

With the demise on traditional online advertising (thanks google and facebook!), financial shortfalls have become more regular to the point where merchandise sales can’t keep up.

To provide a more consistent income stream to pay for our regular costs, we’re looking to you to make a contribution through our Patreon page. We’ve sent up a bunch of tiers starting at $2per month. Find it at https://www.patreon.com/theyellowfevercrew

At the moment we are covering about half of our monthly costs with existing patreons.

By becoming a patron you’ll be covering:
  • ongoing website hosting costs
  • ongoing podcast recording and hosting costs
  • Tifo costs when we get some inspiration (See: Lazer Kiwi).
And just to confirm, the back office crew do not, and will not, receive any kind of remuneration.

So please consider it. Please!

Happily. Truly appreciative of all the hard mahi and hours the good YF elite men and women have put in on the forums and in the stands since 2007. It wouldn’t be supporting the Phoenix without the Yellowfever.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

The best argument about financially supporting the YF in this way is that I already do so. Do you want to be less of a YF supporter than annoying, Left-wing, grumpy Doloras? DIDN'T THINK SO

Sorry, got new credit card and haven’t updated.

Heard that Patreon takes excessively high fees? Or is that not true for a non-profit?

But if so is there a way to do it with less ticket clipping?

Note sure what their fee is but think thr only way around it would be setting up an automatic payment into our bank account.

Eh went ahead and fixed the credit card dets. Automatic payment probably would’ve been better, but maybe it’s easier everything going through Patreon…

Site admins, what's the deal?

Yeh think I might be in that category. It hasn’t really bothered me, but have been chipping in. Most of you guys do much more getting to games and making Tifos etc.

If I was superstitious I’d say that last year was because I also got a bit of additional merch, after not doing so for a wee while!

Nervy we haven’t got a Watto or Faulds to be our plan B. In Chief we trust, but it’s always a worry when the pundits aren’t calling us to the spoon. It means the Aussies are watching us this time. We might need a few goals bundled in from corners to get by as well as our beautiful transition work. Plus I thought Watto might have unfinished business. His record since the Nix is as good as any in the USL, LoI or Canada imo.

Anyway, not fussed about the crown for now. Would rather the effort went into getting people to the games and having a good presence in the derby.

We've gotta add the crowns to peoples accounts manually, and sometimes we miss one. No tech failure this time, just got ol' fashioned Fever shambles.

If you think you should have a crown and don't, flick me a message and I'll fix it for you.

I'll give $2/month and don't have a crown ;-)
I guess my YF identity and Patroen identity are not the same.
Maybe for $2 you consider as 'cheap' and only get an invisible crown?

Yeah I'm with No.8 on this one, I'm only play $2 a month so I'm not too pressed abt a crown. Whenever I start paying more I will absolutely be seeking out that crown  though lol

Edit: nvm I see I have it thank you very much

Will the transactions be viewable by the patreons?
If the donated money goes to the Old Bailey, or the Backbencher, (as in previous years for the benefit of the chosen few!), we should be able to see the transparent ethical policies of the yellow fever.
I’m more than happy to contribute the VERY little I have, but, I would like to see where that money is going.

Mostly to website costs I believe. Some to podcast gear and tifos.

None of the money goes to any of us, or to any bar. It never has. It goes on website costs, podcast costs, poles/flags, fixing drums, online shop costs.

It definately doesn't go on the the petrol we use to drop flags and banners off the stadium, the 2 hours I spent recording and editing a podcast tonight, or Chris' time in designing merch.

If you don't trust us, that's fine. Don't give us money.

What an odd post. $2/month.

Go through your bank statements, if you can't find $24 of unnecessary purchases over a year you made, you are a kidding yourself. I can typically find that much in a week or less. A round of beers that no one really wanted at 1am

#yfspendup

I bet the patreon doesn't even cover the cost if running yf let alone your time.

You guys and gals deserve a lot more than this grief for all you do for the supporters and club. If the fever setup a beer fund for the volunteers within the yf I'd happily contribute to that.

Yea given the cost of running the site and podcast, there has probably been a substantial amount of money that has come out of YF pockets that they aren't close to covering.

If y'all got a beer or coke out of it then it still wouldn't be financially worth the hard time and work put in.

That reminds me, I should up my Patreon contribution.  It's the least I can do.

Chur everyone for the hard work you put into it to make our GameDay and off season better.

I'll just say, no one should feel any obligation to pay. Times are tough for people, so this is probably way down on people's priorities.

I think we run at a very small surplus on our fixed month to month costs atm.

What a moronic question, honestly. You're willingly choose to part with a very small amount of money each month in order to keep YF going. That's it. Do you inspect the supply chain arrangement or wage records of the restaurants you support when you eat out? Just curious.

These guys and gals deserve a medal for what they do.

I fill in for her sometimes when she can't make it and it only had 2/3 legs last time if that answers the question haha

Haha fair.  And given we had a great season last year, I imagine the excited drumming is probably a bit rougher on the skins than if it was some of the dark seasons we have sat through.

10/10 for the drumming all season, so well worth the cost of the skins!

Perhaps some money could be spent on Glue? Next time we do "Hail to the Chief"😉😉. I pay so we dont get adverts and to help with any equipment. I dont always agree with some views. I often put my foot in my mouth with comments but I daily have to get my fix of the YF.

Last seasons success meant louder drumming which caused some issues requiring repair! But that's the first time in 9 years it's needed to happen.

Mostly it's just $20 here and there when we manage to lose the drum sticks.

If you signed up a while back (like, years) and, like me, you almost never sign into Patreon (because why would you), it may be worth logging in and having a sticky beak because like me, something may have changed and your no longer contributing.

Or, perhaps you've jumped to another waka - in which case I look forward to you having a rather sharkty week (in a football supporting sense).
