That's before the masking tape is removed mate... once that is peeled off the chequers will be all nice and even.

I reccommend garden stakes for poles. They are green plastic/fibreglass. The 1.8 metre ones are only 12 bucks at Placemakers (or Mitre 10) and they are lightweight and strong. The smaller ones are about $5.99 I think.

When it is finished I might do the yellow black and white union jack.

Nice, I got a quote from the flag makers in thorndon a few years ago for a yellow, black and white union flag. It was going to cost over $400

There is a company in the UK that specialises in flags for football fans iirc

Here it is http://footballflags.co.uk

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Yes, Ashby has ordered some yellow and black chequered flags from them. He's delivering my one today.

My flags cost me about $50 each to make. I made flags for the Kingz way back when... it's something I like to do.

The Union Jack one is being sewn up at the moment.

This evening Ashby delivered the chequered flag that I ordered in his bulk purchase from the UK. Superb value.

So, the masking tape is off the Chequered flag I am making. I's approx 1.1 metre x 1.1 metre.

Just have to paint the other side next week now.

He's got 4 left Patrick.

They are 1.5 metres x 0.9 metres. This one is shown on one of the 1.8 metre garden stakes from Placemakers (the green pole along the top that goes over the top of the bookcase).

The colour of the yellow is kinda gold... similar to the reebok stripeys. Compare to my version which is on the table next to it and the current Phoenix official A League flags to the left.

Bugger. Just notice I have attached the flag to the pole upside down. With Chequered flags the darker colour traditionally goes in the top left (hoist/pole side) corner. That'll be 2 new cable ties then...

Did anyone see the "Wind, Rain and the Phoenix" banner that the Phoenix fans had at the Sydney game last night. Looked very cool. Had a picture of Daniel on it as well I think.

It looked like it was an old official advertising banner that that club used, looked wonderful though!

Hi guys. It is my banner and I had it made last year. Cost me $1k aud and I had it up on the wall of my pub. so I don't think I will be buying one like that again. Am keenly following this thread to see what u r up to and think I will be heading off to bunnings next sat to make some like those above.

As I live in Sydney, we want one that has something to represent our awesome traveling supporters...

Any ideas ?

Are you on a retainer or commission basis for Placemakers???

Nope, but they are good, lightweight flag poles. Finding a good flag pole was one of the major things that held me back from making flags last year, so I am conscious it might be useful if others know they are available.

Ummm, I've gone a bit mental on the flags, and need volunteers to wave them. If you are interested, send me a pm.

I have 1 x square chequered flag which I am going to use myself.

plus:

1 yellow and black vertically striped flag (photos earlier in the thread)
1 yellow and black chequered flag which Ashby ordered from the flag makers in England (photo earleir in the thread)
2 Phoenix logo official A-league large 'cape' sized flags

And I MIGHT have a yellow, black and white union jack (if I get it finished in time).

They all come with a pole.

Except that that could be misinterpreted by some as being in support of Clive, as in it says "FA is sweet..."

One of the conditions of the stadium allowing banners and flags into the stadium for Phoenix games on a trial basis (see the first post in this thread) was that they were not offensive.

Before getting a banner admitted you have to hold up it so the Red Badge supervisor can view it on the CCTV camera and approve it.

I doubt they would let a banner worded that way in.

So GGF CLIVE might not be a goer then?

It's going to be hard to make a banner about Clive that isn't offensive.

Good chance security won't figure out GGF so possibly.

How about #PalmerDrama which has become the Twitter hashtag for it.
