Food and drink at the game?

Did anyone try brining food and drink to the last home game? Will the stadium let you BYO? Presumably not alcohol, but do they mind people bringing in food and water? The tickets say no chilly bins but don't say anything else. A choice of mince pie or cheeseburger or chips at the stadium just doesn't cut it...

They don't sell food at the stadium either - although they have a thing they call a burger.

I'm pretty sure you're allowed to bring in one litre of non alcoholic drink in  a plastic bottle.  If they made a kid throw away a juice then thats really sh**ty.  For food its definately a case of filling your pockets

As far as i know. you can bring in food - as long as it is not from one one of the fast food companies (Mcd's etc) or fush and chups - Drink allowed  is Bottled water ONLY - and the seal on top must not be broken - you can always take an empty bottle and fill it up inside - there are a couple of water dispensers insider - near aisle 25 and 10 (I think).

The food is rubbish anyhow - the beer is bland (Tui or gold) - best thing is to not buy anything in the stadium.  Do not be tempted to drink the wine - it is Monkey Bay - and produced in a garage in Auckland somewhere

However, you can get Heineken and RTD's in the bar between the two main entrances.

It sucks. I wouldn't mind so much if they actually had some food worth eating...

Magic! I didn't even notice that bar. I just march on in towards my gate without looking back.

Not that I would normally be excited by the prospect of Heineken, but when the alternative is Tui...

Thanks for all the other tips. I'll definitely be bringing a bottle of water. I've got a head cold at the moment and am tanking up on Codrol Night & Day. Great stuff, but it dehydrates you and leaves you a little woosy. No way I'm letting a cold stop me coming to the game!

they could take a leaf out of the american book...I have been to sporting events over there & they have a huge selection of food to choose from...most of which causes you to increase your waistline

I even got a 1.5 L bottle of water confiscated because it was bigger than the 1L size limit. I was allowed to reclaim it if I checked it in though (so I could go wild and crazy later I suppose...)

That "thing" has been scientifically tested by Nasa and they have found it's constitutes  new previously unknown properties.

Rip=off prices on food and beverage means everyone fills up before and after the game. let the caterers go broke until they learn to charge less and make their food out of something that can actually be held down once eaten. The cold dogs are no better and yes, they really are cold!

I used to think they'd go broke and learn from the errors of their ways but it hasn't happened. The food's been crap ever since the stadium opened.

For some reason it never bothered me as much going to an evening NPC or Super 12 game. Maybe I'd already had a few more under the belt by then and was hungrier enough that it didn't matter what crap they sold.

Still there may be a way to turn a negative into a positive. If we enforced the catering monopoly onto visiting teams so they couldn't eat anything but stadium pies, fries, and burgers for 24 hours before a game, I bet we wouldn't lose a home game all season!

idk isn't this something Tony Pignata could legitimately take a look at ..i mean wtf don't they want lots of families along & poisoning kids become somewhat less fashionable ..lets get the food nazis onto this immediately ..bugger being the peace capital of the world, lets beat the crap outa these bastards with rock hard grainy health sticks

I'm sure I saw the tomatoe sauce trying to escape off the hot dog I had. I know I had indejestion for 24 hours. I can't quite place the flavour of the Hot Dog though. I wonder if it was genetically modified in China before being deliviered.

You can tell if food is good, the staff sneek the odd one themselves, yet this catering staff appear to try an avoid any physical contact with the food at all times. NOW that says a lot!

the stadium will have contracts in place i'd imagine, not the club. at AMI (Lancaster/Jade) in chch the food is respectable in terms of taste & temp but it isnt cheap. it is contracted and i bet its the same at all the major stadia in the country.

maybe the club could try and put pressure on the council/stadium board (whoever it concerns) but i doubt they could change it quickly

The Wellington Soup kitchen could set up a stall out the front of the stadium and make a real killing dosh wise, meanwhile the catarers inside the stadium could continue to make a killing of people not money.

That's because it was healthy and no harm to you nor any people around you. Have the stadium stuff and if you don't suffer internally for it, the people around you will suffer when you throw up!

well I agree Stadium food is sh*t I mean, I normally like hotdogs at public events but when I order one at the stadium  the look of it puts me off. The burgers taste like a lump of greece. The pies or OK but considering that and chips are the only OK things it's not the greatest dinner in my opinion.

For the NCJ game I had tickets to The Deloittes Lounge and I don't understand why they can't bring the quote:" Every single drink you would want" down to the regular area. they have Pizza and Fish and Chips and Salads and many others BUT you can't get in their without a Pass. HOWEVER I may have found a little loophole. If you go to Aisle 15 and walk right to the top their is some un manned doors that you can walk straight through and buy a Heineken (or bourbon and coke if your that way inclined) or some decent food. This plan should work but their is a 10% chance you would need a pass to buy food, worth a shot in my eyes?

That would be my suggestion.
