Any football show is better than other stuff for sure, but I just don't think this series has much substance to it at all. About five minutes of interesting stuff, then cornflakes, movie stars, types of chairs they have in the players' lounge, etc etc.
Pao, your "substance" statement is spot on
I regard it as (yet another) opportunity missed and misused, much like Katsanos' Waste Of Space show.
Maestros seems to be all about trying to cover all bases age-wise, and as a result becomes not very watchable. The coaching tips are a waste of time - you can pick that stuff up in five minutes at the library - and so is the crap about favourite meal/film star etc etc.
Killen was on last time I watched, and while he wasn't exactly the most erudite or articulate of speakers, it would have been good to have learned a bit more about his time in England, for instance, his Man City debut, how did he feel looking around and seeing players he'd read only about, how did he actually play, what was his record at Port Vale and Wrexham on loan (barely mentioned) and talking about his injury problems. International appearances? Not even mentioned.
I was at the pub tonight (no, really, I was) and caught a glimpse of some Karcher-sponsored motor racing show. I couldn't hear anything, but the presentation appeared to be spot-on, very professional looking. Now that's how to present a specialist sports show.
Why does everything NZ football related appear so friggin' second rate and amateurish?
