The backlash on Saturday might be very interesting, West Ham taking out their frustrations on Sydney! Bring it on!

Cambridge United drew 2-2 with Espanyol the other day in the Absolute Sports Travel Cup. West Ham also played and for Steve-O, to keep him up to date on fixture prices, the price was 15 quid a ticket.

That's a proper sporting fixture and cheap as chips.

I realized I never made a point. If Cambridge can hold a la liga team and put two in against Shakhtar Donetsk then Sydney and the Nix should be able to put on a display.

FFS! It's a pre-season game!
A pre-season game in football, is the same as a pre-season game of football as played by Richie McCaw and Dan Carter, although I will admit , the latter's version of a pre-season game is Super Rugby.
What teams were sent? What is the level of commitment of the 'better' team?
I used to live 16km north of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and our local club would play 'Newcastle United', it would be a team of U21s and possibles...but that was just our local team. Who won or lost was meaningless. Decide if you want to go along and watch or not, please don't put any meaning into pre-season games

Welcome to the post-modern world. Nothing has any inherent or absolute meaning. All meaning is constructed by individuals or social groups in response to the chilling realisation that they're nothing more than a bunch of replicating enzymes held together by chemical bonds on a rock spinning silently in the unimaginable vastness of the cosmos, 13.8 Billion years from the time when a random quantum fluctuation sprung all of this into existence.

At least beating West Ham has helped me stave off an existential crisis until at least, I dunno, Saturday.

Surely how many paid for PPV only affects Sky's profits? Wouldn't sky have paid a fee for the rights, and that fee is already banked for the tour organisers, and any revenue that does or does not come from the PPV sales is Sky's risk/profit?

Or is the PPV contract known to be that the tour organisers get a percentage?

+ Gorrin. Those two are going to make a very handy midfield. Add WeeMac and we'll have the best in the league I think.

And as many pointed out at the end of last season, our CBs look like completely different players when they actually get some cover from the mids.

Sky doesn't pay for the rights with PPVs, they take a share of the revenue from them. So the Nix are making money from every PPV purchased.

Hey, pat on the back for your performance against the Hammers last night and another for Welnix's ambition in bringing out WH and Newcastle. Well done, deserved more than 20,000 spectators but at least it looks like the whole tour should break even.

Enjoy the moment, you deserve it. I see the UK media are already tearing into the Hammers. If Newcastle take them apart in Wellington then it could be bye bye Sam.

Just one thing though - some of you who seem to favour the amber liquid more than exercise should think twice about taking off your shirts on live TV. Rolls of blubber are not a good look. Perhaps a YF moderator could be brought in?

Sounds like it was a great game so bit annoyed I missed it. Looking forward to Saturday. Wonder if we'll spot some players around Lambton Quay today and tomorrow.

At about 75 minutes I think a whole bunch of us realised we were going to have to take our shirts off. The collection reaction to that was "Oh, shit!".

Way to show your colours. We do not make judgments based on physical appearance, and we recognise that boobs have their place on the lads just as they do on the fairer sex. We value enthusiasm and exubrance over actual skill. We are self-depreciating and we are optimistic. Until we're not. At that point the words "f*ck this stupid game" have been known to be uttered. But nevertheless we turn up the following week in the hope that we might be able to once again show our manbreasts. We will never say die, even though our team can sometimes be a little bit shit. And I, for one, wouldn't have it any other way. Viva la Fever.

Geordies in love with Wellington - world cultural capital - Riviera of the Pacific - report:

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/foot...

This must have Wellington tourism officials in ectasy  - can we now expect plane loads of Geordies to settle in Wellington?

"eh, pet, the chippies are brilliant and the beer cheap. Local football team the Nix 'aint half bad either pet...."

NEWCASTLE UNITED ARE BEING TREATED LIKE ROYALTY IN WELLINGTON

" Touched by the heartfelt tributes laid on in Dunedin for John Alder and Liam Sweenyat the Forsyth Barr Stadium and overwhelmed by the warmth and kindness of folk on the South Island, the hospitality of another friendly city was there for all to see on day four of United’s seven day stay down under.

Fresh from the clean winter air of picturesque Dunedin, United have touched down in the self-dubbed “coolest little capital in the world”. It was a boast they’re entitled to as well by the way.

With a harbour as plush as Monte Carlo F1 nut Alan Pardew can only be impressed. This place has a bit of everything.

In “Welly” there are coffee shops and cool shops like New York, capable cars that glide down to the harbour like Barcelona and friendly banter just like the Toon.

The football stadium is also based in the city centre like St James’ Park and while the winter chill in Dunedin was a shock to the system for Newcastle players and Pardew, who was worried his players could slip on the ice at the Forsyth Barr, it was mild as the teams arrived in Wellington..."
