If we lose tomorrow, Merrick should go.
Football United - July 2014 West Ham and Newcastle visit
PAX 27261 when I bought my tickets about 15 mins ago
Watched NUFC train this morning. I think the nix well get thumped. They were so good. Pardew had a laugh with the crowd and seemed to enjoy being there. They all stopped for autographs outside the bus but also encouraged us to come to midlands park. Very cool.
I actually thought they looked pretty crap. I'd be ashamed to support them based on that training session mate
lol

True but I think the ticket prices have been a big reason why they havent sold a lot more in the last couple of weeks. Especially with the publicity the tour has got. $115 for a ticket is a lot for anyone to part with. The early ticket prices were however great value.

Yeah, but this comes down to simple math. This isn't simply about getting a full house, it's about getting the right price. Let's says every one of those 27,261 tickets cost $20 less - that's over half a million lost. And with 6000 odd seats remaining, could you make that back with the same amount of tickets reduced by $20? Or is it better to hope for a good walk up?
I doubt there will be much of a walk up crowd sadly. With ticket prices being what they are, it's more of a financial commitment that you'd buy in advance rather than casually on the day.

I think they got the pricing just right really. From the sounds of people moaning they would need to be significantly cheaper for the ground to sell out, and as I outlined above they could even have lost money in doing so.
oh for sure. I'm just saying that I'm not expecting a big walk up, not moaning about the prices at all.

Id say 25K of the tickets were sold at the reduced price so not sure how valid your math is.
If I can recall sales were tracking really well when they had their early bird prices with 20K tickets sold in the first week. They still had a month of early bird price sales to go before they changed their pricing.
Sales have really slowed in the last month and I think the increased price is probably the biggest reason why.
The phoenix on the pitch have done everything they can to make this game as appealing as possible.
Also, if this is significantly more expensive than a regular season Phoenix game then maybe some of the people who have forked out for this but don't go to Nix games will start to see Nix games as a bargain. Hopefully anyway.

In my opinion is the best chance the Nix will get to show case why people should be members of the phoenix club. I'd personally love to see them have a campaign at the game like 'bring your football united ticket in and would can get X off your season ticket for new members' or something similar. Doesnt have to be major but everyone likes to think they are getting a bargain.
With 25K non nix members going this weeked they need to do everything they can to get them to come back.
Any sign of Smeltz anywhere?

It was significantly less than 25k actually, and the gold early bird tickets weren't reduced by a hell of a lot. My $129 ticket now costs $139. My math may be fucking woeful for all I know, but the basic principle of the equation remains, my $20 reduction was just an example. We're not playing at a 50,000 seater stadium, so we can't rely on selling bulk cheap tickets en masse to make a return. That's all I'm saying. There's a lot of planning needed to get something like this right, and it would've been pointless making the tickets cheaper than they already are. May have looked ok on tele (and still will), but wouldn't have helped the club anymore financially.

Not a bad shout. They already effectively did that when tying the early pricing to season tickets, so it's probably worth another push.
They will never admit it but a lot of fans (cough) will be pissed off they did not attend the Auckland game. NUFC alone are worth the ticket price. I would guess they would be in the realm of Mexico in the WC qualifier. Well worth the trip to Dunedin and a steal in Wgtn
Sorry but playing Newcastle Utd in a friendly is not on a par with a World Cup qualifier, regardless of the opponent.
All in my opinion anyway.
You may just be saying Newcastle and Mexico are at a similar level though which is possibly fair enough.
TWO English Premier League Teams..at OUR stadium... in one day!!!
-The sniff of another upset possibly, when the "Big Boys" are in town?....
-Good weather,,(fingers crossed)..
-Supportive large crowd, potentially up there with Bahrain or Mexico AW games for atmosphere.
-Added bonus of Bronze"returned corporate" seats for just over half price $60 (only a few left-get in quick!!)
-NIX v NUFC = David v Goliath Grand Final for #Football United14
=Surely 30,000+ PAX ??
FIRE UP!!!! GAME DAY!!! COYN!!!

What is it like in the city at the moment? Almost cloudless here in Upper Hutt. Gonna wrap up warm as the Southerly is still there I believe?

Blue skies. Crisp. Have my long sleeve stripey on and a Reiralution underneath it. Beanie. Scarf. Coat. Broken collar bone. Possible fractured skull. Ready to take on the toon.
This is gonna be a great day, despite the results. One for fans to enjoy.
What a beaut day to debut my new/old long sleeved stripey... COYN!!!
Bugger, clouded over up here, what's it like in Wellington?
I don't think I can go. There are too many options as to how to get there, I can take the car, bus or train. I might just give up and stay at home.
It's clouded over here too. Not bad though, just a slight breeze
Just be like our northern friends, decide with 30 mins to go and if it is looking like showers stay at home. When I was last up there, I was listening to the local talkback and that was one of their excuses for not going. Might have to get the polar fleece out, it is clouding over.
Terrific excited. Brunch in town, massive afternoon of football, film fest tonight. Praise Wellington!
about to head in to town for a great day and great occasion - get amongst it! COYN!!!

The tiered pricing confuses me, and I also can't figure out what a 'Metlink Membership' gets me in addition to my regular bus ticket.
Should I pay for the student ticket or the adult ticket on the train? I'm so confused.

Access to the metlink lounge (at most bus stops) for when your bus doesn't show up.
This is gonna be a great day, despite the results. One for fans to enjoy.
Fuck that. Win or die.
After seeing us lose to the Phoenix I need a win today.
So it's Sky Blue you say...?
Boosh Boosh!
