Has anyone thought about liasing with Phoenix management with
regards to getting a few people from Yellow Fever some match media
accreditation. You could then post our own official match reviews
supplemented with our own photos. We (fans) need to give the print
media a bit of a sharp shock to get their act together when it
comes to coverage and promotion of the game.
I do the odd pix for Soccer Talk, NZS, Waikato FC, OFC and get
a rare credit from the Waikato Times and would happily supply
some pix for the Yellow Fever website.
I mention this because generally the football coverage
provided by "the professionals" of the game is pretty much bland
and dire (being nice here). I've read the Dom, Waikato Times,
Herald etc and all their footballing coverage is as weak as
Budweiser. It's also usually swamped by rugger crap and from
previous experience, the best coverage you will get is the amateur
coverage from fans who know something about the game and will
actually put some thought and time into what they are
producing.
I cannot for the life of me think of any current soccer writer
working in professional media that can write something eyecatching
and memorable. You can't rely on the media to promote the game so
do it yourself!
G'day Canary,
One of our members is (at the time of writing) the only UEFA accredited journalist in New Zealand - so we're hoping that the Phoenix stuff should be pretty straightforward!!
We'd love to use some photos and would be happy to plug you where possible.
Drop an email to adam@yellowfever.co.nz if you're keen.
Cheers

Hope so. I read Fred's stuff in the Dom and its not that exciting
as far as Wellington football coverage is concerned. Talented
football writers are thin on the ground in NZ at present. I
can't name one.
Will see how we go getting a photographers accreditation via
FFA. I had one for the first five seasons of the Kingz via Sitter!
fanzine but let it lapse when they folded.
Cheers Grant
