Hi all

With the A-League season kicking off we have had a huge boost in the fourm traffic, which is great. However, things have been getting a bit messy so we'd like to take this opportunity to set out a few basic instructions that will make everyone's use of the forum a lot more enjoyable.

1. Starting multiple threads. Before you start a new thread please check pages 2 and 3 of a forum or use the search function at the top of the page to see if such a topic already exists. Often what you are asking will already have been covered somewhere else. Please stick to one thread per topic, this is especially important around comments on each match. Also, read the FAQs, your answer may be there.

2. Starting 'one liner' threads in the Phoenix forum. Again, if starting a new thread in the main Phoenix forum, refrain from short one liners. If you link to an article on another forum/website give a few short sentences of explanation about what the link is, why we should click it and what your impressions of the article are. This goes a long way to provoking discussion.

3. Starting threads in the correct forum. Please start threads in the correct forum. The Phoenix forum is just that, a forum for issues surrounding the Phoenix. If you are commenting about news or the A-League in general please use the News forum, chants and the match day experience should go in the chants forum. And remember to pop into those forums as well, there is loads of great banter in there.

4. sl*gging players off. The forums are not a place for sl*gging players, fans, or officials off without a defence of your position (Jag you pedantic Scots git). It is ok to express an informed view on why a particular player did or did not play well. It is not ok to start a thread along the lines of "so and so is crap". People who start such threads, or continue to comment along those lines, will be banned. If you see any posts that are offensive use the "report" button.

5. Thread domination. Do not try to bully someone into submission or disparage every comment they make, simply because their views may differ from your own. Write a coherent reply setting out your views and then let others have their say.

6. No Advertising. This place costs money to run, as do things like the Fever scholarship, NZ freestyle championship and the other initiatives to support football in Wellington and New Zealand.  To cover these costs we sell some t-shirts and we sell some advertising space on here (from time to time).  It's not fair on those that pay to have other people use the forums to promote rival products or services.  Any posts deemed to be advertising are at risk of deletion.

If you wish to advertise with the Fever/White Noise then send us a PM.  We'd LOVE new sponsors.

7. Respect other posters. You may not agee with a view but a reply just insulting someone does not foster debate and makes you look foolish.

8. No txt speak. Please take pity on our more elderly members and avoid text speak.  It will make life easier for the reader and also encourages more accurate and creative writing for the poster.

9. Think before you post. Exactly that.

Finally, keep contributing and keep having a great time!!!

Any other questions, issues or comments, PM a mod.

Cheers

YF
