Free First Game?

Was just pondering how to make sure we get a good following there for the first game before the superlative level of football that will be played has a chance to win people over. Maybe have free admission to the first game to encourage people to get along and have a good time? Then hopefully they will all come back anyway

same here, although its very unlikely they'll be free...maybe half priced

The trouble with a free game is that club is still liable for the bills of the stadium and match day.  it may have an impact going further and bring people back but it's a big gamble on expenses that may not pay off.

Yeah, It's very expensive to run a Stadium for a game...and to ave it free it would be a big dip in The Phoenix's budget...For Example...Sydeny Fc moved it's games to Paramatta Stadium because at Telstra Stadium it cost them over $100 grand everytime they played and their wasn' t enough people coming to the games to balance out the cost and the money coming in...So It would be very unwise finacially for the Phoenix to ave a free entry game.Nestling2007-05-07 15:48:53

I know they need about 12,000 to a game to make profit.

Yeah not a good idea. Maybe a deal for the kids,  but otherwise, not practical

Dreaming - the first gate may very well be the highest of the season, and although TS said he is prepared to take some losses, that would be a finanical mistake, & i'm sure the new CEO wouldn't be too keen on that one...

Who's that, Sydney ?

Pretty sure I read somewhere the Clogs are being stiffed for the use of Suncorp, and by all accounts the Knights had by far the cheapest deal in the league at NHS.

Surely for the expense of travelling from Chch the twenty or so bucks to get in is the least of your worries

Sydney Using Paramatta Stadium...Roar likely to start playing at ballymore becoz they aren't making a profit and losing money each time they play at Suncorp...Will Phoenix be able to make a profit this year?....Last year I think only Melbourne was able to make some money.

They would have to be being charged 6 or 7 times what NHS was costing the Knights... and well over double what the Stadium cost the Kingz (if rumour is to be believed)...that's pretty damn steep if true.

I'm trying to get the idea raised at Phoenix HQ for quite a few father/son free passes to be promoted through some Junior Football Clubs in the lead up to August.

Everyone should start by attending the re-opening of Karori Park later this month and start to help promote the "yellow fever" throughout our great city.

The more we tell, the more Wellingtoniains that find out about us and see that there are passionate people here planning, itching, building and supporting a team that hasn't even kicked a ball yet will only grow attendances and support.....

sydney only played the one game(against persik) at parra because there was a league game on at the same time.our avg crowd at aussie is 17000  roar crowds where bigger than the reds (union)this year  . so it would be good if they got the same breaks from the govoment as the union.roar avg.16000 if you would  to see the a-league crowds try www.austadiums.com  has nz as well

How much is the average ticket for a game in New Zealand?
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Could go from 20 - 35 for adults, for the Pheonix games, dont see it any higher or less.

in peth they have a coupon by one get one free for random matches throughout the season and after looking back at the attendance for those fixtures the sttendance rose by 2000 (about as many people as the knight got last year) on one of those coupon nights it may not seem like a big difference but when ur in the stadium it does

Im sure theyll do some promotional things with tickets, like the good old More Fm contests, maybe enter competetions in the paper ect. I dont think theyll give them out for free in big bunches tho...

The first game I imagine will have a family concession of some sort. None of the teams bar Melbourne mad a profit last year, and the reason is simple.

We've got big crowds, but not enough games. When the season is extended to accomodate new teams like the proposed Gold Coast Club you'll see more money been made.

Do the clubs get a share of the profit made from food stalls and co? - they should, supporters wouldn't be there to spend money on food if it wasn't for the teams.

more people will go, more bandwagoners, more rugby dickheads but more $$$ from selling beer so it could work, it worked at the cricket world cup.

They might go 20% off or something but apart from that your dreaming. Might give a season pass for a lucky 'supporter' who turns up on the first night but i might be dreaming there aswell. AVFCvillan2007-05-11 18:19:30
