FREE Kids v Sydney FC Wed 4 Jan; $10 Stadium Parks

Just a reminder if you haven't seen it already, as well as a prompt for everyone to tell their mates, especially those with kids - tomorrow's game is free for kids (up to 3 kids 16 and under with every paying adult).

Also if you haven't heard, parking at the stadium for Nix games (and other events) is only $10 for the whole of January.

So no better time (except perhaps a later kickoff) to get those casual fans along and let's hope for some good results this week which might have them coming back again.

FIRE UP!!!

What's wrong with the usual $30 cost?

Applies for the whole of January too!

Anyone else get turned away? We thought we had it all planned out pulling into the stadium 20mins before kick off, but had to park in a building and missed kick off

How did the city workers use this? Wouldn't it have been opened only in the lead up to kick-off?

That's bullsh*t. What's the point "event parking" then?

Will this happen again for the remaining January games? Both on a weekend IIRC.ahmad2012-01-05 17:49:55

Should be OK for the weekend matches.

Pretty poor planning on the Stadium's/club's part I think - we got turned away too and in hindsight we should have thought about wed being a work day. But clearly there is limited parking (two levels) and with office workers using a fair chunk it was always going to be a bit marginal. Also the parking people ran out of tickets, so while there were some empty spaces you couldn't park there without the risk of being towed.

Weekdays it is a standard parking facility. remember BNZ etc have large offices on the water front. 2 pm we got in - as we knew most of parks would be office workers.

We got a park on the waterfront about 2:25 pm - $10.50 for 3 hours.  Had a mate who was crowing about the free parking he got on Bowen St - which ordinarily it is on a weekend or Friday night, but being a clear-way and a working day - he got towed - cost $120.00 .  And he wasn't the only one caught out - at least 8 others.

Towed for parking in a "Clearway"? Or for overstaying? Would seem grossly unfair for the latter!

They are the dudes and dudettes with the spy cameras right? Great folk! There's nothing I hate more than trying to park in my favourite loading zone only to find someone else has already taken it.

I have to say that as a visitor I stopped one officer to ask a simple question and he was pretty unfriendly. In fact when I look back upon my week in question he and the Air New Zealand service (?) staff at the airport were the only people in Wellington who weren't completely fabulous.ahmad2012-01-06 18:50:55

I actually feel sorry for the foot sloggers - they have to wear those horrible Akld/Tard/Chelski blue jackets and work to a quota so they have to be sneaky, unscrupulous w*nkers.

I don't have any peace and goodwill towards the council shiny *rses who set the policy and regulations or the parkwise management.

Worse than gooners.

Definitely a clear-way for the evening rush (if you can call it that in the first week of Jan). He was philosophical - admitting that it was a bit of a brain fade on his part.  The good thing is they just moved the vehicle to a spot near the clear way - and not half way across town.

Yeah if it's a clearway and clearly marked as such I have a tiny bit of sympathy but fair cop.

Thank God it was $10 stadium car parks yesterday. A good move and really, that's the price they should always be IMHO. I couldn't believe the weather outside the Stadium after the game.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
