Happy valentines!

Makes sense to sneak it in here, as we play on the Thursday before it. Good chance for a lot of the fringe players to get some game time.

Bit of a fail, wonder who is to blame?

"News of the match was first found via Ticketek advertising tickets on their website on Tuesday, with a Phoenix spokesman confirming the match would take place and saying an official announcement would be made on Wednesday."

And here is the Nix press release. Best part is cheap tickets and free if you are a member, think that is very smart from them

"Wellington Phoenix members can attend the match for free. General Public can purchase tickets for just $10 for adults and $2.50 for juniors. Tickets can be purchased at ticketek.co.nz"

I thought $10 was well below what I'd expect to pay, free is even better.

not expecting a big crowd for this one

Thats the result you get when you do zero promotion of the game.  If I didn't see the article on stuff or come on here I wouldn't have known about it.  I've had no communication from the club about this game whatsoever.

A random midweek friendly match vs Beijing is never going to get a crowd no matter how much promotion you do.

Exactly? Why waste marketing $$$ on a game that only the hardcore (who will know about the game anyway) will turn up to?

It was in the In The Nix email that the Nix sent out. Can't really have a go at the Nix for not communicating that the game is on to it's members when they sent an email out about the game.

Only the married or desperate and dateless will turn up on Valentines Day! That obviously includes Welnix and all Phoenix Promotions staff!

Was it? the last one I got on the 18th of Jan only mentions the win over the Victory and the 'upcoming' Brisbane game

Not all members get the email.  Look at Ballane he gets some but not all of them.  I went through my deleted, spam and inbox but never received it.

Wont look great to people sponsoring this trip/game if there arent many to see it. Its not hard to send a few tweets and facebook posts which cost nothing.

I've seen a fair few social media posts about it, and a Facebook event. Think that's about the extent of promotion they'll be doing for the game. It doesn't really make sense to do much more than that.

Can't comment on emails as I'm not subscribed for them, but that should be at least mentioned in those too.

I just got an email about it now.   I hope a few emails have at least made their way to the chinese embassy or local cultural group.

i am probably going to come down for it, not married or desperate or dateless. i am coming more to get some shirts signed i have 3 shirts i need to get signed by the whole squad and i am running out of home games to get it done. with a lot of the normal starting 11 maybe not starting or even playing i should be able to find them at the stadium and get them to sign.

I'm looking forward to this.  Great way to spend valentines with my favourite team.  It's even going to be on telly! Might be better to open from aisle 20 to 30 for this one as like many posts above, there won't be much of a crowd.

All those yellow seats showing the world how empty it is. I wonder if the Westpac Trust has considered changing them? Rugby, Football, 7's, all of them are starting to look poor with so much yellow on TV.

Spending money replacing seats just because of the colour is down the list of improvements they wish to make. Upgrading the concourse/replay screens/wifi is top of the agenda atm if I recall correctly.

His balls are his word.

For those of us with faulty season passes, when it refuses us entry, will they still swipe us in or do we have to get an email ticket from who?

Most likely they will just let you in as all members with a season pass can attend the game. If you don't have a pass you need to ring Ticketek on 04 384 2457 (e.g. Flexi 6) and they will email you a pdf ticket.

Crowed might be a little higher than we think (not much but a little), Im at a course with a Chinese kiwi who doesn't really follow nix, He is going, his parents have come over from china for a visit and he has a whole bunch of friends he is taking as well. We probably under estimate the Chinese pride?? Not saying its huge but its an easy draw for a few hundred more
