So as you may know, Siggy has written a book, with help from Jason Pine. The Fever will be doing a few things around it in May when it released, such as a book launch party.

But for now, jump on over to his Facebook page and give it a Like. It's the least you can do for someone who's put their heart and soul into the football club we all love over the past seven seasons.

Oh snap.  I don't generally read autobiographies but Ill be getting Siggy's.

Will be great if he does actually stray outside the polite answers. Would love to hear a players perspective on the end of the TS era, end of the RH era with AWs, what he thought about qualifying the AWs for the WC then sitting on the bench behind Smith and Reid, Anthony Hudson, that brain snap in UAE, mystery injuries ruling people out of AWs friendlies ...

he's pretty upfront about stuff when you talk to him so I imagine he won't hold back in his book. Will be a must read.

I can imagine Ricki getting a serve for not playing him at the World Cup in 2010.

To be fair, the three guys who played ahead of him were all better players, and the results were not too shabby.

For sure but then what was 10 mins in the last game or whatever?

If we had scored in the last 10 mins of the last game we would have gone through to the knockout round though. No time for sentimentality there

And had we done that Ryan Nelsen would have been out for two yellows if I recall and so Ben would have played

I would suspect that Ricki would get a serve for letting those guys pick and choose what AW's games they played (i.e. none) after the World Cup, rather than the selections at the world cup itself

He still worked his ass off to get our team to the WC.  He deserved to play IMO.

Can't edit on the app so I meant to say he worked his ass off to help get us in the WC.

didn't realise it was an under 11 world Cup where everyone should have been given a turn.

If they got us to the FIFA WC then let the under 11's play.

As a Cantabrian, it was great to see Ben succeed as a pro after years of early struggle.

He was one of only two players from the 1997 NZ u-17 team which beat the Aussies in the OFC final on an atrocious ANZAC weekend in his hometown, Christchurch, to go on to a pro career (Mike Wilson being the other but his MLS career was ended just as it was beginning due to injury).

After the '97 FIFA u-17 World Cup in Egypt, Wynton Rufer secured trials in Germany for Ben and fellow Cantab Blair Scadden at Hannover 96 etc. but nothing came of it.

Before returning home, Ben trialed at some English clubs but was even rejected by non-league Hendon.

Football people in Christchurch such as Ben's coach at Christchurch United, former All White Johan Verweij rated him very highly and were amazed even Hendon turned him down.

He then returned to club football in Christchurch and national league football for Christchurch sides.

It was a long hard road for Ben to become a player for NZ sides in the Aussie league - he was signed by Ken Dugdale at the Football Kingz for the 2003-4 season but only played one game because Dugdale didn't rate him.

He then had to wait until 2008 when Ricki signed him as his last defensive signing for the Phoenix on a "we'll see how he goes" basis.

Similarly he had seven years between his first All Whites Cap in 2000 against Oman and his second given by Herbert in 2007 against Wales at Wrexham.

I'll be interested to read about his early struggles when he failed to rate with club coaches outside of Christchurch - both in NZ and overseas. We were dumbfounded in Christchurch that Dugdale refused to utilize Ben at the Kingz when they were struggling so much and we knew he had the ability.
