HarryB says "NEVER! Did you not see the streaker??"
My night was almost ruined. Standing in the feverzone and the 1st
10 minutes were wrecked because some family behind me wanted me to
sit down. The father almost threatened me. I refused to sit down
but my friend felt guilty and sat down. This family wanted me to
sit down and miss the game so there son who was crying at this
stage could see the game. Luckily they left and sat somewhere else.
But the excuse that they payed heaps of money was a pathetic one.
It wasn't like I fronted up with the cash for the game. I would
have sat down if it was anywhere else in the stadium but the
feverzone there to stand in I refuse to sit for them. Of course
they didn't know what the fever zone was and tried to complain to
the lady in yellow which fell on deaf ears.
know how you feel. i also know that this post provides nothing to the forum
First Things First I Stand And Applaud The Streaker!!!

i can do that too

Pretty sh*t game by the Phoenix, Beckham was pretty average apart from his passes... Fun night out.
BackBencher was fun before and after the game.
through he was just the arrogant ass as usual. (fly in and abuse the ref after 50% - 50% ball when he could have earned a yellow at around 20th min.)

My night was almost ruined...
Ticketek should be hung drawn and quartered for their efforts to ruin the sport. The people in the Fever Zone who wanted to sit should have been warned well in advance. The FZ is standing room - Ticketek know this, they have it on their seating plans, and yet they fail to mention this to families who might not want to stand. I really feel sorry for any family who had their view blocked, and also for anyone forced to sit down - even though the stewards could not legally tell you to, according to the one steward I met tonight who happens to be the only oneI've ever met who seems tio be a co-operative, decent person!
There was some hostility towards the back of Aisle 22, some bloke pushing and screaming at someone in a Phoenix top because he was standing up. While I don't condone his actions, I don't blame him for his frustration.
Other than that, tonight was an awesome night, I had heaps of fun. football_mum was tops, pointing out a seat closer to her and her family so I could feel less guilty about blocking the view of the very understanding and reasonable sitting-down family behind me, and turned out to have more fun with them anyway rather than standing alone and chanting surrounded by sitters! Atmosphere was great, as I ranted about in a thread I created just before. Hopefully this isn't the last one of its kind!
And just to think, nobody watching at home even saw the streaker...
if thats not an incentive to go to the live event, what
is?
Nice bit of arse she has too !!
I think I saw you LG... Were you in the BackBencher before the game?
Galaxy post game banter.
Great for football in NZ but probably the worst performance by our
team this season.
Yes it was only an exhibition but LA Galaxy are hardly the
great team we made them look like. I enjoyed the night out but
never want to see us play like that again, we were poor and are so
much beter than the 1/2 pie effort we put in tonight.
And before people say 'but we played yesterday', fitness
should not really come into it, our guys are supposed to be
professionals which means they are fit, they only played 180
minutes over two days for goodness sake, hell Ive gone out and
biked for 8 hours then run an hour one day then backed it up
with another hour run the next day and felt fine.
Sorry to rant I want us to win every game we play and am
just very dissapointed at the result (not the occasion)
Beckham the best player on the park. Daylight second.
Class act.
i was just replying to someone in the other thread you bugger.
For those who said we were poor - who gives a crap. We were
actually quite good at the start though.
And for f's sake - if you are gonna start up Stand Up for the
Phoenix - get the tune right - sick of saying this.
32k - We play every week...
We looked like a team with only 24 hours between games and I'd be
interested in knowing why Johnson and Aloisi didn't play last
night...
The real keys to football in NZ from now are as follows
1: (and I think most importantly) how is the game in NZ (being the Phoenix or NZ Football) going to capitalise on this and keep that momentum and good will going. This did not happen after 82 and that was a chance missed.
2: Having seen all this, Kiwis have now got to look at playing A-League for the Phoenix as their first priority rather than going to Europe. We can foot it, we know we can, why not try and be a part of it?
3: This game has to get released on DVD to buy

Didn't think we looked that bad tbh.

Wasn't the worst Cameo in history from Costa.
Im confused (must be the beer) how did my reply to the Galaxy game
thread end up as a thread all on its own, I really must pay
attention to what buttons I press.
beckham was unbelievable - his passing was a dream
im pretty sure he had a hand in every goal:
- sensational 40 yard bending ball into their striker right in
heart of box, which led to scramble and first goal
- another pin point cross field switch in the final third that
freed up donovan (i think) to run at somebody and cause havoc
before rebound finished off for second
- Beckham carried ball forward then chipped a neat little pass
into somebody - couple of moments later third goal
- took pen for fourth.
I wanted to see a free kick though... If I was the ref I'd of
awarded that penalty outside the box.
Couldn't agree more. Every pass was so effortless and
yet so perfect. I was watching him in warmups and it carried
on into the game - I have never seen a guy strike a ball so
effortlessly, so cleanly and so accurately.
on the other hand again we showed a lack of composure and decision-making in and around the box. we again had plenty of posssession and territory and lots of in the attacking third but usually managed to bungle things. hopefully we have blown all that out of our system pre Perth.
Great occasion and Im glad I was partof it...Beckham was great to
watch..those long raking passes and the committment. Phoenix
were poor but what do u expect backing up in part and then bit
players in part.....it was never about the result tho for moi.
To the moron in front of me with the Nine Inch Nails tee shirt and
pierced brain who insisted on saying every few seconds thiings like
"Pass it Galaxy" and "Go right Galaxy" and "Defend Galaxy", they
can't hear your demented ramblings on the pitch, and you should
really learn the names of the team you're supporting as you only
seemed to know one of their players. I really hope you're from
Auckland or somewhere because if you live in Wellington you are an
even bigger t*sser than you appeared to everyone sitting around
you. Nice touch when the kid in front of you turned around and
stared at you in disbelief for thirty seconds, pity you didn't get
the hint.
Oh - and otherwise it was a great night.
great night for partying and lots of bells and whistles (in the
form of jert planes and ribbons). The phoenix looked blunt in front
of goal as usual though.
Whoever came up with those blow up plastic things.... you
will suffer in the next life.
Best chant of the night. "where were you last night?" Over in aisle 34.
Other bit. The look on the faces of the guys trying to start a mexican wave when Bill told them NOT to!!!
Best food. The chocolates that Pippa produced from nowhere....

Agree about Costa's cameo. He looked to have that one delightful
thing that we have been missing... PACE! (seemed to cross way
better than Elrich as well).

Enough with the Beckham rimjob! The chant "Give it to Beckham" for
our freekicks was a little embarassing, where was the real yellow
fever tonight, replaced by stiletto wearing 15 yr lds etc....Our
team played as bad as yellow fever were organised tonight...Im glad
i went and sang my heart out for the team.
Highlights:
Full house (sort of)
My wife at a game and enjoying it
Aloisi!
Brownlie (I rate this guy - let's get him on more in these
remaining games)
Costa
Not-so-good:
The four staunch fans in front of me who never cheered,
clapped, or did anything resembling an excited state the entire
game except to slap a thigh when Beckham got the "penalty".
Suggestion to them: Super 14 starts soon, until then stay at
home.
Mexican waves
World's worst penalty decisions at both ends
First Things First I Stand And Applaud The Streaker!!!
Two other lowlights
Cheering for Beckham at corners
Cheering Galaxy goals (!)

Beckham played in third gear, hardly ever did any defending but played enough class balls to make the game look ridiculously easy.
He showed that all this intricate step over, passing move,
jiggery poggery is a waste of time. All you have to do when you
get the ball is to put it on the toe of the guy in the
box. That and accelerate like lightening when you see a
break.
As for the Phoenix, they looked pretty poor. Apart frm
tiredness, they conceded goals so easliy again, although the
penalty was not one.
As for Paston, well this guy couldnt save petrol coupons.I
think he has a couple of very serious technical weaknesses.
You dont want him in goal of your world cup team.

1] Beckham's cross field passes were true class, something our boys
need to learn instead of the usual hoof ball
2] The YFZ sucked tonight. The regulars weren't there and
it sounded like the same 3 songs over and over. Time to
practice some more.
3] Not joining in with the wave despite every other section
gave the YFZ an elitiest look. Sorry lads but when you sang "we're
here to watch the football" you gave the impression that you are
the only ones allowed to start a song or do anything.
4] AIlse 18 sucked - where I was, everyone seemed more intent
on drinking their chardoney rather than watching the football or
making any noise.
5] The game itself for me wasn't too bad. You could see
Donovan and that negro fella meant business. Both being very quick
and NOT gunshy unlike our team. Brownlie had what I believe maybe
his first ever shot at goal in a Phoenix Jersey.
6] I'm glad you all got on my case to make it. I'm glad I was
there. Sorry YFZ members to sound harsh as I realise most of you
regulars were scattered to the four corners.
7] The streaker deserved to be up on the big screen!
