You'll also find that Joe Punchclock doesn't give a toss about draws, it's about the same as going for 5 days to test cricket and not getting a result. Joe rates 0-0 draws as twice as bad as games with actual goals.

5pm is a good time, I think that night games are better though.
I think that there would be a bigger crowd if it was later in the evening.

Its the casual fans that makes up the numbers at the top end. So even tho the hardcore fans travel from whatever to the ROF and back again. Its the fans that want to party up and sleep in the next day after the hangover etc that makes for a large percentage of the crowd number.

Besides, it affects dinner time for many as well and we got to keep our obesity levels up.

You'll find all the important food groups in a stadium pie, that's why they have the games at dinner time.

gravy, fat, gristle and pastry.

I drive down from Palmy and then drive home straight after getting home around 9-30pm. Doesn't bother me at all.

we do the same from wanganui usually home by 10.00pm happy to do it to support the phoenix

It certainly makes 'Shirts off for the phoenix' interesting.

I'm one that's not sure what the fuss is about with Sunday games at 5p? My kids love going and they get to have a feed there. They know there's only junk food and that the home cooked meal is not an option. We have a full day, off to the footy by 4ish and home by 7.30.

Not quite getting the problem with Sunday as far as the families go, someone with kids that thinks differently let me know. If it's a sh*thouse food option problem then feed them before/after.

They won't be watching for the Phoenix Having the games later is more for the fans of the other 7 teams sakes than ours - so they can watch their team play us (and hopefully lose )

3pm would be good for me, so I can get a flight back to Auck that night.  There's rarely a flight after 7.30 on a Sunday from Wgtn to Akld.

Joe Punchclock is a t**ser, and his 10 year old sells smack at his intermediate school.  I don't think we should be trying to get people like him and his odious kids to the RoF.

Harry Pencilpusher and his little girl Pippy are more the type of people we want following our club.

Not sure what difference the time makes. Me and the wife make a day/evening of it. Head into town (after setting up the DVD recorder so we can watch the game again) about 4ish.  Either grab a feed first or sample the caketins fish&chips just before kickoff.

Whatever time they play we'll be there.
I think better performance will bring better crowds!

Afternoon games are a pain in the arse.

Youhave:
Kids playing sport eg: at the moment there's reps on, during summer theres cricket etc
Adults playing/coaching  sports, running around after the kids
Shops open so many people working.

It dosent matter what time the game is for the hardened fan (4000 odd) but if you want big crowds they need to be playing when people are available to attend, fri/sat evening.

I reckon they should be 9am kickoffs on Sundays, that way there's no need to go home after a night out on Sat (if bored, hang out at Mermaid's until 8ish), and then after the game we can all resume drinking at the Backbencher from 11am onwards...puurfect.

3pm games are complete crap. Sun in your eyes, go home afterwards and it's only 5pm. Silly silly. Late as possible.

But then people wont get home till late (especially out of towners) and with people having work and school the next day,no one will turn out.

Its that and points in above posts that is why friday saturday night games are just more ideal for many more people

Yes,but friday and saturdays are most likely a hassle for less people. Also as allwhitebeliever (i agree with you far too much....) said, the majority of the crowd are thse who want to make a night of it,so friday and saturday games have always atracted more people,in wellington at least

What, you mean the actors don't do the show live and take a 4-minute break every ten minutes?

What's the world coming to?

At the moment Oska I have to say that the atmosphere at the rugby games is better than the Phoenix games...wasn't last year but this year it has changed around... more people making more noise at rugby this year.............

I think what he suppose to say it's not the same when others about you knows the plot and ending before you do. There are plenty of spoilers. It's like watching the replay of the AB's when others know the results and you have to close your ears and run away before someone accidently revealed the results.

Well I'm not the one to ask for reports on atmospere at the Eggchasing so that's a proper knee to the bollocks.

There have been three new series sets in all and they recently released a 45 year commemorative set to cover the original series. I get them sent from home, but they're probably available somewhere in NZ.

Man, are we way off-topic now.... but I bet News is a Dr Who fan
