Gareth's Guest Launches

The Wellington Phoenix will launch Gareths Guest at the Phoenixs next home game vs Melbourne Heart on January 29 in an initiative that is designed to benefit both Wellington Phoenix supporters and UNICEF NZ.

In an initiative that is designed to benefit both Wellington Phoenix supporters and UNICEF NZ, a global organisation dedicated to saving and protecting children, Wellington Phoenix owner Gareth Morgan will put up a cash prize at each of the remaining four home games in season 2011/12.

At half time one lucky seat number will be drawn. If there is a fan sitting in that seat at the time then they will have the choice of ether winning $1000 cash or taking $800 themselves and donating $500 to UNICEF NZ.

The winner will also get an invite to be Gareths Guest in the Chairmans Lounge for the next home game.

If the seat is not occupied then the cash will jackpot through to the next home game.

Hi Gareth, know you are a generous person but personally I wonder if this is going to have the desired effect of increasing crowds to an average 10,000+

I know it's probably money from your own pocket ( ) but I wonder if you might get some punters along thinking they'll win the money, and then next season the apathy returns (in part due to raised expectations from the $1000 cash prize being offered in the next four games).

Yes I'm probably over thinking it but with all the following things going on:

- Black Out
- Media controversy over crowd numbers and threat to take another game on the road
- Winning form away from home
- Football club gate share scheme
- Gareth's Guest

Isn't it going to get a wee bit hard determining how much each of those initiatives contributed to Sunday's large crowd?

Just my thoughts anyway. Keep up the great work.

He and I can have a chat about the state of my Kiwisaver whilst I sit in my chair counting the $1000 I have won. A pamphlet about the good deeds of UNICEF will be painstakingly visible.

I disagree Ahmad.

Do more.

Pile it on.

Do as many different things as it takes to get people along, and get as many people along as possible. And get them along as soon as possible.

Market the Phoenix here, there and everywhere, in everywhichway.

All day.

Every day.

In every way.

Who cares how easy it is to do the analysis of which idea worked and which didn't... get the crowds along, and worry about analysing which idea was successful and which wasn't later. Use social media to canvass the newly enthused fans and ask them which one worked for them.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

I actually do think that it is a nice idea. Good idea? Not sure yet. Don't know.

But hey, if Unicef is good enough for Barcelona, then they are good enough for the ROF

$1000 could bring an entire African Village to a home game!

Bring a different village each week!

Guaranteed crowd of at least a few hundred!

You're all sick perverts, the lot of you!

No puppies or Man U supporters were harmed just now.

And for your information if I was in any situation with Mel, I'd make her wear a toon shirt and I'd be thinking of Cheryl Tweedy (or Shania Twain).

I wish a Shania Twain would die every time I beat off!

What impresses me is that Gareth is having a crack at bringing crowds to watch the Phoenix. Regardless of whether it works or not it doesn't matter.

He's having a go!

Exactly the same advice Tarek Elrich gave Andrew Durante!

I thought about this but would $1000 even buy a day at the training facilities?
