Was George on the bench on Sunday and is he travelling to Sydney?

Are they going to organise any matches for members of the squad that don't get much game time?

Not sure how much was paid for George.

It is my understanding that the A League only allows teams to name 3 International players in a match squad which means the 4 Phoenix Brazilian boys will be rotated over the season.

he pops in and out of timeloops using quantum leaps, but only for the briefest moment, before he travels through to the 17th dimension where he is broken down sub-atomically then reassembled.

So he kinda exists...

Just voted on the Radio Sport poll and found this news.

Phoenix make minimal personnel changes8/29/2007 1:12 PM

Minimal changes for Phoenix match against Central Coast - Steven Old out with injury, Steve D'Or replaces, Paladini also in

As expected coach Ricki Herbert has made minimal changes to his Phoenix squad for this Friday's game with Central Coast.

Defender Steven Old has been ruled out with injury so Steve D'Or comes into the side at the back.

Midfielder George Paladini has also been included in a 16-man travelling side.

Coach Herbert will have to drop one player out before they face the top of the table Mariners.

by all accounts, he isn't quite up to the required level for A League.  As valeo said, 3 out of 4 brazilians isn't bad.

according to that benjamin guy George is a really good player. I know it's just one person but hes been right about most things.

Come on down Benjamima we need your input.

The conspiracy theory is that Ricki is playing poker and doesn't want to show his aces to soon..

Seen as how the first three Brazillians have doneI really want to see George play.

They said in the NZ Herald today that his fitness is still an issue, I hope he's good enough though

I spoke to a couple of the guys in the team last week and they said there is no stand out reason why he isn't in the side, it's just the manager's decision.  I say give it a while.  Little while ago people were asking about Felipe and saying 2/4 wasn't bad

it can't still be fitness, i mean how long does it take to get fit if you're training intensely every day?

Say my name a couple of times and I appear -

George is a quality player but he can be a bit of a moody bugger apparently.  He's a long way from home in a very different country to what he's used to (he's played around South America and a bit in Portugal) and I dare say he's having trouble settling in.  He's also reportedly not the best trainer in the world (in terms of his starting point for fitness), which may have put Ricki on edge - especially as Daniel, Cleb and Felipe were all at 100% in training.

If he gets a couple of games he'll show what he's capable of - but after Sunday's match, it might take a while (or an injury) to get him into the side.

It'd be nice to see him get the last 20 minutes at Sydney, that's all it took Felipe to show you guys what he can do!!

I get the feeling he won't make the matchday squad - they've taken 16 to Gosford - he's the most likely one to miss the squad of 15 that they can name....

I'm guessing he's had trouble settling in.

Neither unfit nor unskilled.  Just a bit unlucky.

I'm beginning to wonder what Ricki's attitude to 'flair' is.  He plays Daniel, but so far doesn't appear to want to start with Felipe and won't even give George a sniff.

The opinion back in Brasil was that Daniel, Cleberson and George were the sure-fire starters, and that Felipe were the calculated gamble.  Why he's opted for Coveny over George is a mystery to me.  Ditto for Ferrante over Felipe.

Thanks Benji.

Would love to see George at some point, but the Gaffer is always right. Think he is trying to work out the team from the back. Once he gets that right then this will create further options in the midfield and forwards.

We watched George at training yesterday, he looked average and that is the word we have been hearing round the traps.  Felipe has been getting his fitness up, he'll definitely play a big part Sunday.  With Brownie back that should give a bit more defensive solidity in midfield maybe alloqing for Felipe to slot in.

Let's not get carried away by reputations and nationalities.  None of us have seen George play (in NZ) yet, so let's not go bigging up a guy we know nothing about (other than reputation).

Did you see the post above you?  We have seen him train, and I'm afraid that he didn't look very impressive.  We have also heard that he is not quite up to the standard.

Oh, but hang on, you think he is worth a chance, so we should start him.

U obviously have no idea about football. Means sht all. Look at Central Coast. Mrdja Petrovski Kwasnic absolute class. Like the commentator said when kwasnic scored against us if he was brazilian everyone would be going on about the goal. We all know that the samba cant match the zembekiko so in conclusion play costa the greek.
