Finally someone who knows what they are talking about. I mean whos attitude wouldnt be bad coming half way accross the world and not getting one minute to show your worth in a game (pre season or competitive). They have even given Greg Draper a run on in pre-season, and ferrante has played every game. Some people dont see logic and havent seen a phoenix training yet can make a judgement.

As far as i know one of the things holding back George is his complete lack of understanding of English, let alone being able to speak it. At the YFSLP i tried to talk to George and he looked completely blankly at me till Cleberson came up and saved him from me .

I can speak a little bit of portugese and have spoken to him...your right he knows about five words in english (bench being one of them!). Cant help.

Have you ever seen George play?

I have seen him at training and the issue is not his attitude, it is the fact that he cannot control a ball.  That is not because he is not risking getting injured - it is a fundemental lack of skill.

I want to be given my chance to shine, so I am expecting at least half a game against Sydney and a start against Perth.

I think you've asked me this before...  YES.  Twice.  And people I know, and trust, in Brasil say that he was still playing well when they last saw him in action.  They ask me why he's not playing when his team are struggling to score and I can't answer them.

As for the trapping of the ball thing, as I've already said, he's not a skill player - though I'm told (by those who know him) that his skill level increases when he can see the goal.

It may well be the communication thing, but I suspect it's more of a Ricki thing.  Thing is, if Ricki's got no interest in using him, he should just pay the lad's contract out and let him leave - freeing up a spot in the squad for someone else.  That said, it's only 3 games in, there's a lot of football to be played and I'm sure he'll get some gametime sooner or later (although I have a sneaky suspicion it'll be wide on the right, where he's less likely to get shots in and won't look as impressive).

so many assumptions, and so many people who have seen him "TRAIN HEAPS" say he is class, cause he could finish. How does he fit into ricki's system? how does he interact with the other players who will be starting? i (once) hit a ball top corner at training and im terrible. this is a professional league, and im sure when george can train and play at a good enough standard in RICKI's systemhe'll be used

Sir Les, FrankieMac and YellowFury up front in a 4-3-3 I reckon - I'll take Felipe's place and slot in behind. We'll be class I tells ya, if only Ricki would give us 20 mins together to show our class!

P.S. I can trap a ball... half the time

Many of you may not know the old addage of training vs playing (Plodder and Jeremy Field fully back this up).

Coaches watch players train alot more then play; and some people seem to train better then they play and thus look sharp whilst others, eg George, train badly and thus look bad whilst where it matters they shine unlike the good trainers who are average at best.

Short answer: Yes
"We're going to have a look at something a bit different in George. I've always said it's been a fitness component with him but he's done everything right"

Maybe Rickki does rate him?
